What is this Skilwsaw 10" table saw worth?

This came with our condo, and it is just taking up room in the basement. I put it on Craigslist for $50, and someone is offering me $25. I see that new, similar items are over $150. I just want to get rid of it - but I don't necessarily want to give it away. Is $25 fair?

I bet that a few weeks after you sell it, a project where you could use it comes along.

In my experience, used tools go for 50% of value at best if they are name brand and top of the line. Everyone wants a deal. While this is a name brand, it is still just and homeowner quality saw. I would say 30% to 50% of original price at best. In today's economy, you might have to wait a while for that price. $25 is a steal and gets it out of your basement. Your $50 is about right in my opinion but you will have to hold it until you find a buyer.

Condition of blade and if it is carbide is a factor too.

Look on craigslist. There are usually tons of tablesaws on there, if not in your area check another major metro area.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

Aren't you in Chicago?
I'll give you $50 if you're willing to drop it by and it's fully functional with all its parts.

I buy and sale a fair amount of tools (garage sale & craigslist) and would say that you are probably correct at $50 - that's a good price
They are a homeowners / hobbyist grade saw and about $170 new with an upgraded design including a stand.

The blade does not appear to be carbide tipped and is probably the OEM blade. You do have the guard which is a plus.
I see these and their brothers (inexpensive Craftsman or Tool Shop etc ...) for around $50-$65 on a regular basis
so your price is fine - but like all things "deal wise" you need to list it for $75 and take $50

: -)

If you sell it for $25.00, they'll just turn around and resell it for $75.00.

Yep the more you ask the longer you will have to try and sell it. $75 and take $50 is good advice. As stated above, I looked closer and it appears to be just a cheap steel blade. Dull already. It will need a new blade from the start.

I once bought a Delta shaper from some one for about half price. Another guy was trying to talk him down. I said " here I only have twenties and it came out to be $10 more than he was asking. I got it on the spot. Include with the shaper were over $400 worth of carbide cutters. Seller was very happy but not as happy as me.

Just how much time you want to spend selling this is up to you. Your time and dealing with who knows who is worth something too.

with the stand?

i just sold a beat-up Skil brand table saw with a stand attached for $65 in the Boston area. had a decent blade but not great and no guard (but did have a fence).

i replaced it with a $350 Jet brand saw brandy new (yet to use, though do to other projects)

Hurts like a bastid...

That model number has been recalled. According to this link. [www.productsthathurt.com]

Check the manufacture date against the recalled list, before you sell it.

I would hold out for $50, but then again I would probably keep it for myself...
