Does anybody have any unique/different Groomsmen and usher gift ideas?

Could be Mac related but doesn't have to be. Just wondering what other people did besides cuff links or flasks...

Thanks,

Steve

I think stuff that is personalized (engraved) that they would never buy for themselves is always best. Whenever I look at my engraved money clip, set of pencils, etc, I do think about the wedding.

I'd avoid anything that has you or your wife's name on it or the date of the wedding. These are gifts from you to your groomsmen.

So of all of the above, I'd go with the beer mugs.

Wailer nailed it. Just engrave it with his name, maybe a short personal note if it will fit. Something like:

Jim,

Thanks for being a reasonably good buddy.

John

And I have no idea where to keep engraved little personal trinkets-- they stress me out every time I try to clean and eventually they end up in a box and I feel bad that money was wasted on something useless.

That's why beer mugs are a good idea. You use them everyday.

Letherman tools. I gave my groomsmen Micras, and years later, they still talk about how often they use them, and they think of the wedding every time they pull out their keys.

How much do you want to spend? Apple has refurb shuffles for $39 and $59 and Nanos for $99...

I too was thinking of shuffles, and you can get them engraved for free. Even if you have another iPod, a shuffle is good for running, working out, mowing the yard, etc.

I am with BernDog- Leatherman tools are incredibly useful gifts.
I have an engraved silver plated beer coozie that moves with me, but is never used.
Pretty, but a dust collector.

Third vote for Leatherman.
I got my groomsmen The Wave, and had them engraved. Everyone loved them.

Friend of mine (before I met him) gave personalized cufflinks made of antique typewriter keys. Always thought that was cool.

A nice LED flashlight, like a Fenix (something with a CREE LED).

I gave carolina Blue iPod Shuffles with the groomsmen's names engraved. Fit with the Carolina Blue theme of the wedding. They were well received.

Kurtzie,

A token gift like a reasonably priced leatherman tool and money. Yes. Money. Weddings are insanely expensive for the bride and groom but they are costly for groomsmen and ushers, too.

For example, groomsmen and ushers may have to travel to and from the wedding, pay for accommodations if he/she is coming in from out of town, rent a tux (if he doesn't already own one), etc. You get the idea. It all adds up very quickly.

While I would consider it an honor to be a groomsman or an usher, at the same time, money is tight these days and every little bit of savings helps. So, to me, a gift is nifty but money to help offset some of the costs involved with attending the wedding and/or being a groomsman (or usher) would very cool, too.

I like the engraved stuff, but the beer stein would HAVE to include a year's 'beer of the month' kind of deal to make it fully "manly".

sadly, the engraved clock I received from my best friend's wedding just went to the landfill- it ran afoul of one of the kids and didn't survive.

When my lovely wife and I married in 1982, we gave away engraved gold cross pen and pencil sets- engraved with THEIR name, not ours. When polled a decade later, half of them still used the pens.

Like several others here, and thinking about what I would want, I would go with the fenix keychain light (the E1 for $15) and/or the leatherman squirt with pliers. I think there is another flat side on the E1 that could be engraved.

How about a personalized pocket knife tool ? Something unique as well as useful. You can engrave it with your groomsmen's names to make it even more special. Here's an example

These personalized gift items can be found at Personalized Gifts, they seem to have a bunch of these unique gift items.
