So how many vintage Macs do you own?

Ack! My Lombard and my mentally defective because of Powerlogix B&W are senior citizens.

My Mac mini last year got me up to date. Only a matter of time before he's that way as well though.

Time marches on.

7200/120 and an 8600 with a G3 upgrade. Not really that old, but still pushing 10 years.

Does a Rev A iMac count? It is almost 8 years old now.

Machines that were new when I bought them:

IIci
7600/132

Used or found:

one faux 8600 (8600 board in 7600/120 case with 7300 power supply, no drives, RAM, processor in it anymore)

two 9600s (one all tricked out, the other a shell gathering dust)

a 7100, would probably be functional if I added a hard drive, but it should be sent to the curb from whence it came)

a Bondi iMac, 333MHz logic board in it replacing the 233MHz board that was held together with duct tape. Useless but working.

MY SO's old PB190, the machine that turned him into an Apple-hater

Somewhere in the darkest recesses of the closet, a Mac Portable (I think)

The Taoist Zhuangzi said, "Good order results spontaneously when things are let alone".
The sociologist, and historian, Adam Ferguson described the phenomenon of spontaneous order in society as the "result of human action, but not the execution of any human design".

My 8500/G3/366 is out on extended loan.

My eMate 300 is gathering sexy transluscent green dust on the shelf. Need to do something fun with that...

Vintage MACS? Come on! Don't flash your youth around here. My Apple /// still fires up with Rupert (yes, he was Rupert before changing his name to Robert) Lissner's "3 EZ Pieces", the original SOS version of the ProDOS "AppleWorks". Love that green screen Apple /// monitor.

And there is the Mac Plus case all cleaned out and ready to turn into a MacQuarium.

Do you mean "own" or "have sitting in the garage/basement"?

I have enough parts to make about 5 SE's,
2 PowerMac 6100's
1 PowerBook 520
_______________ (I'll draw the line on 'vintage' here)
2 PowerMac G3 Beige Desktops
1 iMac DV/400

Currently using
1 G5 Dual/2.0

Desktops:

IIsi -- spraypainted black

9600 -- massively upgraded, I cannot decide whether or not to part with this old beast, it has taken pretty much everything I've thrown at it

Blue and White G3

Laptops:

PB1400 -- I have almost all the goodies for this, except a G3 upgrade

Pismo -- this is my road warrior.

Clamshells -- just because. As all you guys know, I now have graphite, indigo, blackberry.

... amazing how many of these "vintage" or "obsolete" machines will run Tiger, and do so well!

Lets see,
One 6200CD on permanent loan to a friend's Daughter to play old games on
One Performa 6360 collecting dust in the closet
Two G3 MTs 1 300mhz and 1 266mhz, one is in use for nest box cameras
One frankenmac G3 in a lighted PC case with DVD AV card 120gb HD and combo drive (just for fun instead of a TV in the computer room)
One G3 366 clamshell iBook which is the wife's new favorite toy and workhorse while she is laid up.
One G4 Yikes 350 going to my parents for web and email duties
One G4 Yikes 400 which is my main machine currently

and last is the newest hardware in the house
One G4 533 DA which is the wife primary machine.

So I guess here we are all vintage.

Vintage; Pre-G3 (and still working last time powered up...):

SE/30
7100
8100
Q630
PB1400 (X2)
PB3400
7300
PCPMT210

two-thirds of which have been G3'ed

Quasi-Vintage; G3 non-OS X native compatible:

several MT's & DT's

Posers; G3 native OS X compatible:

Pismo, iBooks (X2) & iMac DV/SE

a clear definition of "vintage" would be helpful...

Sometimes it is what it is...
and then there's times when it's really better.

The last vintage Mac I have lying around is a Color Classic. It has been in the box for many years now. I keep meaning to take it out and fire it up into OS7, but never get around to it. I guess I am just saving it to make a Macquarium out of it. I also have a G4 Cube, but it is still very useful and the greatest computer I have ever owned.

I have a bunch starting with my original first Mac, my Mac II. I'll have to make a list when we clean up the basement. But one that I have that I haven't seen listed here yet is an old server. Apple Network Server 500/132. It is humongeous. It has 8 bays and it comes on wheels. It runs AUIX I think. Never used it yet. My buddy was going to trash it from where he works and I couldn't let it just die like that.

Still hanging around:
SE FDHD
Powerbook 170 (Love that old thing)
Powermac 7500
Clamshell iBook 300 (Blue)
iMac G3/350
iMac G3/500 (My main machine)
I also have an old Sharp calculator with a qwerty keyboard that you can program in basic and save programs onto a cassette or print out on the thermal printer. Not a mac, but it's cool.

Used to have:
Apple III (wish I had hung onto that)
IIfx (ditto wish)
IIci (another ditto)

Why hang on to them? I dunno. I do know that I get all excited when people start talking about having a Color Classic, Clamshell iBooks, eMate 300 (pant, pant), etc.

My wife also gets pretty excited about it, but not in the same way.
