Guess What - This Mac forum now on Mac!
Posted by: OWC Larry
Date: December 20, 2005 02:47PM
That temporary down time of 3.5 minutes was to switch this forum over to our Dual G5 with Tiger Server Edition. Been testing for the last week without issues - and expect no issues now that we're live. smiling smiley
[forums.macresource.com]

So - IF you notice any issue, please fire a PM to the admin...

But expect all will be well. This Mac Forum now runs on OS X - just like it ought to be.

So how about them Apples. smiling smiley

Could you maybe post a photo on this forum of the computer that's hosting the forum? I appreciate self-referentiality.

Great job Larry!

I too would like to see a pic of your rig.

Keep up the good work.

My new studio is using G5s, xserves and xserve raids and xsan. The whole place is sync'd with fibrechannel. I'm impressed.

Since there are many requests for pics/whathaveyou...you should just set up a dedicated webcam for viewing the the server...that way when people come to the forum, they can see/watch the server and think: "Hey, I'm in there." : )

There seems to be a delay in the "new" tags showing up -- not sure if it's related to the switch.

And if you use "Mark all messages read" it doesn't automatically refresh the view. I thought it did before, but who knows, drugs can make things fuzzy...

The Distributed.net RC5-64 computing project once had a webcam setup of some of their servers, but that was a while ago. Geeky yes, but so is cracking a 64-bit encryption scheme using your spare processing cycles.

Pretty sure I still have it too, it's got a Seagate drive in it IIRC.

I suffer from the same sensitivity that you do. A few nuggets of wisdom were shared with me and I'm "trying" to incorporate them into my life. First, remember that nobody can hurt your feelings unless you let them. You can always reject what is being forced on you emotionally.
Second, nothing changes unless you change it. If you don't want the behavior to be repeated then you need to take action. Otherwise the kid has learned that his behavior is the way to get things done, because everyone lets him get away with it.
In the meantime I sympathize because I've been there.

Hey, shouldn't that G5 at least be up on an alter.. or at least a table?

Having it under a desk like that makes seem so...so... unimportant!
