OT: Firefly - sad ending to the saga

I guess we all thought that this was coming (or had come), but perhaps some of us hoped:

Interesting to note some of the commentary in the thread suggesting that each episode costed about $2M. It seems to show in the quality of the show.

Sorry to hear that. I just bought the DVD of the movie today. I was hoping for another movie, but I suppose that's not going to happen.

Maybe DVD sales will save it.

It just about broke even at the box office:[www.boxofficemojo.com]

Hopefully the dvd sales will keep it alive. My brother is getting Serenity for xmas.

If true; Bummer...

But I'll hold a LITTLE hope while I see how DVD sales of Serentiy are...
And if they just might revitalize the series DVD sales..

Joss got his miracle once*... you never know if he might get another one..

* Browncoat geek-note: Alan Tudyk, after the episode "Out of Gas" stole the console button his character rigged up as a recall signal... "Mal, If your miracle comes, push that button and we'll come runnin'".
He gave that button to Joss after they heard that they'd been cancelled.. with a note;
"Joss, if your miracle comes, push that button.. and we'll come running".

Good to hear the actors might be willing to come back if by some 'miracle' (one for which I hope) the show/series gets resurrected.

The talent signed a 3 movie deal. Firefly was movie #1. If they don't make more movies, the studio has to buy them out of their contract.

I'm not a fan but the whole thing just seems messy. Not uncommon in film or TV though.

I hope they finally see that it is not a money-making (read: POPULAR) little show. It needs to die.

I bought a couple of copies last night at the local best buy. They were out of them on the front "New Tuesday" table and I had to go get them from the regular DVD aisle. I picked up probably 10 of them, carried them with me back up front and left 8 on the new release table. :>)

I take that as a good sign for the DVD sales.

AND... it may be just pure marketing genius that Joss has that statement, the DAY that the movie hits the stores for sale. :>)

Good Luck!
