Deleting Cookie Doesn't Help...

'Trying to resolve this refresh-issue.

I deleted the Macresource.com cookie, cleared cache and history, quit and restarted Firefox.

'Got back to the phorum and logged in, only to find...

...that the next page didn't show that I was logged in.

Until I clicked on a forum-link, I was a stranger.

I made a few changes, can you tell me if it is still doing it?
Thanks

Mark All Messages Read actually worked once and then stopped working again.

I'm not sure if it was something that you did or something that I did. On the off-chance that it was my router doing some caching, I kicked it right before I hit the Mark All Messages Read link.

Nope. It wasn't resetting my router that did it.

I just tried it again and this time clicking the Mark All link did not clear the new messages until I hit the refresh button.

The mark all read worked for me the last time I tried it. I'll try again and post back.

one more change.
Evidently, osx server enables a web performance cache by default. That is now turned off. Let me know if that helps, if not fixes it.
Thanks

Worked for me the last two times. And it seems the IPs are back, too. I'll double check both.

EDIT:
Now it isn't working again, but the IPs are still good.

I wonder if the OWC router has a cache...?

Well now it is refreshing after I read the posts. That's an improvement.

The "mark all read" still doesn't work right in Firefox.

3 Times in a row.

...and Mark All doesn't work in Safari.

I'm tentatively going to say that it's a problem unique to the engines used in Firefox and Safari.

Next, I'm going to change the User Agent in Firefox and try it again.

Nope. Changing the User Agent didn't fix it.

Worked just now in Opera. My Opera is set to mimic IE, if that helps.

Edit
Worked a second time in Opera.

What's the IP thing about?

I suffer from the same sensitivity that you do. A few nuggets of wisdom were shared with me and I'm "trying" to incorporate them into my life. First, remember that nobody can hurt your feelings unless you let them. You can always reject what is being forced on you emotionally.
Second, nothing changes unless you change it. If you don't want the behavior to be repeated then you need to take action. Otherwise the kid has learned that his behavior is the way to get things done, because everyone lets him get away with it.
In the meantime I sympathize because I've been there.

Is there a chance it's not a cookie issue at all but just a speed issue? As in things happening at different times on the server end?

OK, it just worked for me in Firefox. I'm not going to try it again tonight. I think all of us east coasters and those in the central time zone should get some sleep now. zzzzzzzz.....

I just tried setting the Firefox disk-cache to zero, deleting the cache files and history and guess what!

Same problem.

Just for the heck of it, I opened my Firefox Java console and saw a huge bunch of errors coming from this site.

It's all from [forums.macresource.com]

The error that I get is:
Error: Expected ':' but found 'center'. Declaration dropped. Line:0

I get one error for each page-load.

It occurs to me that IE is probably less sensitive to Java issues and that may be why FF and Safari are acting up, but IE isn't.

Has anyone edited the headers in the last day or so?

Well, that explains it then.

I'm going to go check and see if I have an IP thing in my PMs too.

Mark all read - works for me with Safari 2.0.2 It refreshes the page as it is supposed to do, and all "new" notices are gone.

I have yet to see a problem with this function.

My cookies are set "for orig. site. only", and Safari cache is set to zero. I did this by Get Info on the Cache file and made it mine, read only, then locked it.

History hasn't been touched...just natural attrition.

I just tried doing mark all read and it looked as if it refreshed the page but everything came up as showing new messages still. I hit refresh and it all went away to what it should have been. Maybe my problem is I'm on a peecee ;)
