Can iTunes convert WMA files?

this question was posted on another board i read. a windows user has 700 cds in windows media player. her mp3 player broke and she's considering an iPod. understandably, she doesn't want to have to re-import the cds from discs.

If they are protected(more then likely), they will be unplayable.

Do you guys have that much music on your iPods? 700 CD's?

AFAIK, iTunes for Windows will import and convert (if desired) unprotected WMAs as-is, no problem. The Mac version will not...that's why we need EasyWMA.

Also, it should only take a couple minutes of her time and cost nothing to download iTunes and try importing something. She'll have her own definitive answer lickety split.

I have a 40g iPod with close to 400 albums, that's all that will fit.
