if your company has a "review" process at the end of the calendar year, and this is when they announce the raises (based on performance, supposedly), what is your raise?

mine is 3.5%, which is the average for the entire company. IT SUCKS!

I just had my review last week. I got about a 9% raise. They're actually doing profit sharing for the first time in 5 years. I find out about that next week. I've been here for 10 1/2 years.

Pre-9/11...it was anywhere from 4%-10%...and possibly more based on "merit".

Now, it has basically been 2% across the board, and some people get more based on merit; but usually that is the ones in 'control' who give themselves and each other the higher percentage. One year (2002) they didn't give raises at all, which caused some unhappy people.

I've received the merit raise once...probably around 5% of my salary, at the time. This past few months though, I negotiated to have a nearly 27% increase...which finally kicked in during October - but I was lucky there...three key people left...two from my area, one Director from another, so I was essentially the only one left, and they didn't want to lose me, so I told them what I 'wanted'...and they actually took it. Whew. lol

Starting mid-Jan. though, I will finally have some help, as I recently hired for a position.

Our raises come in July. And they aren't raises, they are "cost of living increases". There are only "merit raises" here, which evidently nobody here merits. Ah well.

We usually get about 3.5% and I negotiated an annual preformance bonus of about 16.5% which is delivered half in the end of Jan and half in the end of July.

Trouble is they will work me like slave labor in January making sure I earn every penny in blud and sweat.

We received an across the board cost of living increase in July (June is the end of our FY) of 3%. I have never been in an organization that provided merit increases. My largest annual increase in over 25 years was 11% (high inflation in late '70s, early '80s.), but typically is 0-5%.

Depends on my next job, I guess; contract is (thank heavens!) up at the end of the year.

If my company can ever renegotiate their contract with my union then I might get a 2-3 percent raise, but that was supposed to happen LAST year, and we will not be getting any retroactive pay for that. They are stalling big time, refusing our basic requirements and imposing ridiculous demands on us.
The only good thing about this year so far is I will be working more hours, so that means more overtime, probably 10-11 hour days- if you consider that a good thing.

I just hope I can find a job better suited to my skills and interests that will pay as well as this one does. It's funny how something like money can keep you in a job that you don't really like, but there is some potential to move up to where I want to be, so that's really why I stay I think.

won't know til the "anniversary" of my hire date but they laid off 3 people. .. I don't think I will get diddley-squat.

Raises are not something discussed around here.

Ours come in May.

They are called merit increases, but merit seems to have little to do with it. They average about 3.5% and you would think the slackers would get zip and the movers & shakers would get 5%, but it usually ends up with everyone getting 3.5%.

Our incentive bonus, OTOH should be 6% this year, which is a nice chunk.

Well, the wife called, and she got 6%. She also missed company-wide recognition (week-long resort trip to the Caribbean, etc.) only by virtue of not having been in her position long enough. Bonuses are in Q1.

I guess I can bump that up to an extra two quarters each raid, huh?

Got a 60-day layoff notice in November, but managed to find another job to transfer to, so no lapse in employment... Which may or may not be such a good thing...

Here, they take the grade of the position, factor in things like what your performance was, what the relative salaries of other employees in your grade and position are getting, the price of tea in China, phase of the moon, and generate a number. The manager has no input to the actual value (other than performance input) -- it's a secret formula no one knows...

Generally 3-4% maximum.

I'm self-employed so my salary goes up and down each year. I can raise my hourly rate but that's no guarantee I'll make more money.

For most full-timers, I think the only way to get a substantial increase in salary is to come in with an offer from another company and see if the current employer will match it. Don't bluff on this, of course, or you may find yourself out on the street. And always be prepared to walk. If they question your loyalty to the company, try to suppress the natural urge to laugh in their face and ask about their loyalty should the company experience a downturn. The days of working for the same company all your life are gone. And never depend on the company pension fund to take care of you in retirement. My parents have several friends who are working into their 70s because their company went backrupt and took the pension funds down with them.

no raise, none in sight. might see a COLA in 2006, if i'm lucky. we landed a good contract client due to a competitor doing lousy work. i'd move on, but as others have said, times are tough if you're not in demand.

my brother-in-law is in demand. he's moving to AZ to work for Intel. he had 3 companies trying to land him. he's leaving Agere in FL. i'd guess he's going to make 6 figures. he doesn't even have a 4 year degree!

My S/O has a four year degree plus 10 years of experience in her field; she is earning 1/2 the hourly wage of a co-worker who has high school diploma and less experience but speaks Spanish!

Haven't had a raise in 4 years. We've been negotiating for a contract for three years.

Just received a 19% PAY CUT 4 weeks ago, pending an expected contract settlement deadline on Jan 17th. If we settle, maybe the cut will be less. If we don't settle, then the company can set the pay where they want it and change/throw out other work rules.

Sadly, the 19% cut puts us back about 19 years, as previous delays in contract negotiations and a pay cut back in '93 have given us an effective annual increase of only 1%/yr for the past 20 years.

I'm fscked and actively looking for other employment.

Raise? In my dreams! So it goes in the airline business.
