It had its nose wheels up in the air already! I think that was when they had it out on Saturday playing with it.

And it will only have its first flight if there's no standing water on the runway. I've been trying to figure out why that should matter; does anybody know?

water spots ruin the photography sessions ?

first flights usually have a minimum of complications

good visibilty, dry runways and no winds
probably temperatures within a set of parameters, too.

Hope it isn't like this scary YouTube Airbus crash that occurred during testing. It's shown from about 5 different cameras.

it's missing two engines...!

They got a lot, a lot, a lot of great desks and chairs
Now, at the Government Center
Where they put the stamps on the letter
And then they write it down in the ledger

It is much, MUCH larger than it looks in photos where there is nothing nearby to judge scale. The larger doors, windshield, and passenger windows make it appear to be 737-sized (6 abreast in cattle class/1 aisle), but it's actually bigger than the 767 (7 or 8 abreast in cattle class/2 aisles) which it will replace.

I found some video on a few Seattle TV websites. Looks like Tuesday's event will be streamed live if the weather co-operates.

Wow those are big fans. At what point do you call that a turboprop?

When the thrust from the jet exhaust is not the main source of propulsion. Turboprops use a turbine engine to turn a propellor which provides forward thrust, but the engine exhaust on turboprops is relatively low pressure and is usually routed away from the engine at an angle.

Just being responsible and taking it one step at at time in order to minimize the risk. Likely they are overly conservative and don't want to challenge a non-flight proven anti-skid system. Traveling from puddle to "dry" to puddle on takeoff or landing is not something desired to test on the first flight even though they are confident in the design of the anti-skid.

I'm guessing that wet pavement performance is not one of the things they're instrumented to study on this first flight...
I'm sure they have a lot of things to cover (data-recording wise) on this flight, and don't want to mess with what they ARE trying to record by throwing in other variables.

Just a guess though.. I'm not in the industry.
