Sounds like he'll need all the help he can get.

Amusing video of him (5 minute investment of your time) [adage.com]

Great clip!

Zi 8...I laughed out loud when I saw that name. That corporate/committee culture for you.

I sit on a man’s back, choking him and making
him carry me, and yet assure myself and others
that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his
lot by all possible means — except by getting off
his back. - Leo Tolstoy, novelist and Philosopher

That was entertaining and informative. Regardless of the crappy name, the Zi8 is an amazing product. I hope to get one sometime this year.

I'm not a big fan of people like that. That presentation was more for his own ego as a stage presence than getting GOOD product out the door.

You don't see Japanese auto managers trying to make a neat impact like that. And they LOVE to act weird on TV.

Just make the product. If you're a mentor to someone in your organization, that might be a nice little story.

Oh, how many presentations I've sat through like this where the guy is trying to get promoted, and then eventually leaves the company for greener pastures, and the next guy tells you that the previous guy's schtick ruined the department/company but THIS NEW GUY'S stuff is waaaay better.

uh-huh

A Zit - I'll buy it! Does look like a cool product. But how does the story end? Were all 27,000 name suggestions worse?

Absolutely!

The only fault I find is that he used the rhetorical, perfunctory "Okay?" too many times. Once is too many. At least is didn't say "So..." for no damn reason.

Great presentation. He's the CEO. He's talking about what he went through to get the product to that point in time. Why *shouldn't* he show a little ego? And it wasn't that much ego, to be accurate.

Also brilliant. That cracked me up.
