Anyone know how to do a background check on someone that wants "their" car driven cross-country?

I've got this 'friend' that says he needs a car to be picked up on one side of the country and driven to another.

What's the best way to make sure I don't get pulled over at gunpoint for driving a HOT CAR?

Get a copy of the registration, title and driver's license of owner. Confirm it is not "hot".

Is the friend good enough to trust? Driving across USA is fun.Are you finances going to be reimbursed with nice motels and gas? Airline back. With gas today and motels it is going to be shocking. $70 a night for Best Western and then some.

Make sure the tires and dashboard aren't crammed full of blow also.
