Panic in the streets. Well, maybe not. 4.4

"A magnitude 4.4 earthquake has hit Lincoln County, but no injuries and little property damage are reported, the U.S. Geological Survey says.

The agency said the earthquake hit about three miles east of Sparks about 4:22 p.m. Saturday. Sparks is between Chandler and Meeker.

A Lincoln County 911 dispatcher said no injuries and only minor property damage were reported.

People also reported feeling the temblor in Norman, Prague, Seminole, and as far as Tulsa."

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.

Downgraded to a 4.1. USGS earthquake data
Didn't feel a thing, and I live in Norman.

Let's see.... We've had a blizzard this past Christmas; we've been in a drought for I can't remember how long; earthquakes seem to be happening with some regularity in Oklahoma. Flooding occurred last summer in the north-central part of the state, and every time it rains it seems that south-east Oklahoma will get some flooding. Of course, tornados, which some people will go out to see. We haven't seen the plagues of locusts and raining frogs yet... or the world-killing asteroid.

At least it didn't happen during the Sparks America rally (Oklahoma Bike Week). Bikers and bible-thumpers in the heartland of America. Hoo-ha! Surprisingly, everyone seems to get along OK.

All kidding aside, this is one place you can be assured that your neighbors will lend a helping hand, and not just to help themselves, should the need arise.

No. No. and No. Although we probably have those here as well, no. That is not the intent of the post. Of all the places I have lived in the US, from Boston to Virginia to the Carolinas to Georgia to Utah to Texas and then to Oklahoma, this place is special in the "lend a hand" department, and that is not meant sarcastically.
