"What is the oldest functioning Mac that you own?"

I stole this question from the link in DavidS' thread:

I thought it might make a good topic while I wait for the meeting I have to go to in one hour. My boss set up a meeting for 4:30 the afternoon before a holiday. :-(

I still use my 6400/300 which runs 8.6 on the IDE drive, and 7.6.1 on the SCSI drive which I installed in the bay.

I use my old Mustek scanner and, once in a blue moon, the Zip drive, both of which are SCSI -- so that's one reason among several that I keep it around. I don't do any graphics to speak of at home these days, so I can't see investing any money into equipment when I can do the little volunteer stuff just fine using Quark 4 and Photoshop 5. Plus there's a couple of old games I am loathe to give up.

Anyhow, I am still fond of the little guy and don't want to part with him. :-)

The oldest one I own, or the oldest I use?

The oldest functioning Mac that I have is my first Mac - a Mac SE with 2 SuperDrives and an internal 1GB hard drive. And maxed at 4MB of memory.

Until last week it was a 6100. I gave it away to someone just starting out in computers who just wanted something for word processing, spreadsheets, quicken, etc, so it's still functioning, just not in my house.

My beige G3 still gets tons of use...works like a charm, is fast and stable. The only downside is no multitasking and lack of new software for it.

Oldest I own... classic, oldest I use is a 7200 for games.

I still use an SE30 as a reloading bench notebook...

Thinkinng about replacing it with a Powerbook 1400 that's surplus from work.

mick e regularly uses his Pismo. There are plenty of museum pieces up in the attic, including a Duo 2300c that works and runs OS9.2

SE/30 is in my kitchen for recipes and writing.

Used to have an SE but gave it to a writer and the dude swiped it. Welcome to America.

My current list of Macs:

SE/30
PB180
Performa 578
7200
8100
Lime iMac
B&W
Lombard
Mac mini

Used to have a Mac Plus but I sold it. What in the world was I thinking?

All my Macs still run and without any problems, that is unless I fire up the B&W with the PowerLogix card, then I get kernel panics.

bunch of 040 Performas, like the 476 ??
and CD 040s, an LC 575 and 580
and 2 PB 520C and 1 540C
oh... and a StarMax and one or two other 603 machines

besided the Pismo and G4 B&W

functioning, as in still plugged in & running from time to time? or as in sitting in the attic, collecting dust since nobody at a yard sale would pay $10 for it?

i use 1 mac at home, my G4 1GHz. have some beige carcasses in the attic, which probably work, and need a new home.

I still have a working SE/30. I also have a nonfunctioning TAM. I use a Pismo 400 and a G5 tower.

Mac Classic. It even has the original Sim City and all the old Infocom games.

And I think my son will probably add to his collection today when he goes to my husband's boss' house who is getting ready for a garage sale and has some 7100s and 8100s that still work, and no telling what else.

I use my first Mac ever, an LC II with ethernet card and 2GB hard drive, to back up files off my older Macs. The two oldest Macs I use more regularly are an LC 580 and a PowerBook 520c.

The LC 580 is my jack of all trades since it has a decent amount of RAM, 52MB, and a host of ports for connecting my many old devices. I would love to find a 64MB module or even an 128MB module compatible with the 580. If anyone comes across a reasonably priced one, please let me know. I'm also considering finding one of those Apple MPEG Media System LC PDS cards so I can try and watch old CDI and Video Disc movies.

The PowerBook 520c works well as a controller for my various computers, VNC and Timbuktu can do wonders. Also performs flawlessly for checking email and viewing the web. Sweetmail and WannaBe remain my software package of choice for my web needs.

Oldest desktop PM7500.
Oldest laptop PB1400.

I have the laptop always up and running on a corner of my desk to interact with my old Olitek external answering machine/faxmodem that only works under OS 8/9.

I had a SE30 in the attic, but I tossed it when I moved.
I had a Performa475 on the porch but someone stole it.

That leaves a Powerbook1400 that I last turned on a year ago during the Holidays break.
A B&WG3 that I still use occaisionally mostly for TurboCad. I did go on-line with it a while back for grins and giggles.

Oldest? An SE.

Oldest that's still occasionally used? I pull out my LC about once a year or so.

Oldest in use at present? PPC 9600.

*Edit: 'Just realized that my digital picture frame is made from a PB1400, which predates the 9600 by more than a year. So that's my oldest Mac in use at the present time.

Oldest Apple Computer is my //c, up in the attic in the original box (even have the rainbow Apple stickers).

Oldest "Mac" is my Power Computing PowerBase 200MT, ugraded to a G3266 (overclocked to 300Mhz) that is still working and gets occasional use.

128k Mac upgraded to 512k with functioning image writer and SCSI floppy so you don't have to switch disks. Got to go play some Zork. I keep getting lost and going in circles. As soon as I figure that game out. I'm going to try GATO.

I still have a 466 clamshell iBook, that works and gets occassional use. My first Mac was a Powermac 7100/80. I gave it away years ago.

I have a PB180 that I use almost every day for a recipe file, system 7 game repository and F@H. Dual dual-core 68030 Moto's @30mhz, 12mb RAM, 360mb HD, 10.3.9, superdrive, airport, bluetooth. Yup, all tricked out....

Have an original, stock Mac 128 that worked last time I powered it on. Mac OS 1.0 on floppy. Bunch of other Macs & a Umax C500 & a C600 laying about also. Bunch of PB1400's, couple of 3400's, & a Lombard.

Also have an Apple //, a //+, a //e 'Platinum', & somewhere a Laser 128 (//c knock-off)
edit: Almost forgot the Apple //GS [forums.macresource.com]

I suffer from the same sensitivity that you do. A few nuggets of wisdom were shared with me and I'm "trying" to incorporate them into my life. First, remember that nobody can hurt your feelings unless you let them. You can always reject what is being forced on you emotionally.
Second, nothing changes unless you change it. If you don't want the behavior to be repeated then you need to take action. Otherwise the kid has learned that his behavior is the way to get things done, because everyone lets him get away with it.
In the meantime I sympathize because I've been there.

1 512k that may or may not work...
1 SE/30 that does work, but my daughter won't use...I hook it up to an old SCSI zip and CDRW (with a disc caddy).
I've got a cute little color classic she does use...

Strangest thing... my 512k came w/a keyboard that has both a telephone type connector and an ADB port!
