I was already asleep for an hour when you posted that, guitarist, or I would've responded that:

A: who was claiming a crisis?
B: 14 or 15 (skilled writers use numerals for numbers greater than 10)?
C: Woot has thousands of people hitting their servers at Midnight CST every day. A desirable item would sell several thousand units and be sold out an hour before you'd get around to making a snide comment.
D: Those who appreciate good writing, read Woot daily; here's the last line of their product description for the Arkon FM modulator 2/$13 shipped:

"...don’t be afraid to leave them in those cars all the time: unlike those foxy iPod accessories, the Arkon SF100 is so ugly and unappealing that even the hardest-up crackhead won’t mistake it for something of value."

My wisecrack was harsher than intended, perhaps due to posting late--my apologies.

Any grammatical errors there? Just checking!

(FYI Jim, your use of a semicolon wasn't warranted, but who's counting?)

A lot of people who allegedly "appreciate good writing" don't read "woot" daily. All due respect to those who do. There's room for all of us.

EDIT: I was not nice.

As for semicolons, they can be used correctly almost anywhere that a period might be used between sentences. Usually, the intent is to indicate a stronger relationship between the two independent clauses than might be inferred from a separation into two sentences. But I don't claim to be a writer.

I was only half serious about the semi colon. It's said to be the most misunderstood, misued, or overused, particularly among journalists and academics, often as a substitute for more lucid alternatives. I tend to avoid them for fear of losing my already fragile grasp of typewritten English!
