Newer Tech silicone iPad case and screen protector. Save your $.

I bought the NuGuard silicone iPad case and the clear NuVue screen protector both from Newer Technology. If you're in the market for either, avoid these products.
I have always been very happy with Newer Tech products, but these just don't seem to meet their usual high standards.
The case fits like a saddle on a sow. It curls up on the sides along the screen and covers the buttons.
The screen protector is a static cling type. It seemed that as soon as I peeled off the backing, every dust particle in the air clung to the protector. No matter what I did, I wasn't able to get it on without having quite a bit of dust trapped between it and the screen.
I bought a Zagg screen protector and it went on better with no crud trapped under it. As for the case, I'm waiting on Otterbox.

I know, that's why I expected a better item.

Hi,

I'm sorry that you're not happy with the silicone sleeve or the screen protector, some people just do not like silicone cases once they get them, it's either a love it or hate it kind of thing. Silicone is inherently flimsy and yes, at the edges it's a bit floppy but, without a much heavier edge banding, any silicone case is going to do that. MacTech magazine wrote a glowing review of the same case you bought and gave it a 10/10 rating. MacTech Review

As for the dust on the screen, again, because it's a static cling screen protector, yes, any dust in your air is going to jump to the screen protector. That's going to happen with any screen protector that does not go on with a water based application - and most of us don't want to spray our electronics down..... There's a video review of the product from Insanely Great Mac and they give some great installation tips too like using tape to remove dust from the screen at: IGM Video Review

Thanks for the feedback, and again, we're sorry you're unhappy with the product.

Good Luck!

In my experience, it's always best to apply a screen protector when a machine is brand new - i.e. with the fewest dust particles!

Nice idea to use tape to remove those pesky last dust devils when you are either adding a screen protector later or replacing one.

Doesn't get any newer than right out of the box.

I have the Apple case, which has a flip-top lid to cover the screen. I figure this will be all the protection it needs. I doubt that I will put a screen protector on it.

I bought one (screen protector) for my iPhone, but haven't put it on. I have one on the Touch, but I still prefer the feel of the naked glass.
