Which world cup games have been the most exciting so far?

I'm looking over the list of games that I haven't watched yet, wondering which ones are worth watching. Of the ones I've watched, I thought today's US/Algeria matchup was a good one. The New Zealand/Italy was very interesting, and in the same vein so was Switzerland/France. I loved watching the germans play in Germany/Australia and the spanish play in Spain/Honduras, though the competitions weren't that fantastic in and of themselves. Also, Brazil/North Korea had an unexpected degree of excitement. All of these games were fascinating to watch for completely different reasons.

What have I missed? Do you have any favorite games that I haven't mentioned? Oh, and if you post to this thread, PLEASE DON'T post scores or mention the winners/losers.

Oh, by the way, if you have Comcast, AT&T, or quite a number of other ISPs, you can watch all of the games in HD on ESPN3.com.

They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

The cups w/ cold beer. I don't like warm beer.

Sometimes it is what it is...
and then there's times when it's really better.

Check the Uruguay games, they have been very good. US v Slovenia is a must if you haven't seen it yet. And the Argentines...who I think will win it. Sublime performances.

Understandable. When you're drinking crappy beer it needs to be chilled to kill the taste.

The US games have been quite dramatic. Its been a ton of fun.

(of course, it helps that they've been successful thus far)

I'm generally not a fan of the US Futball but their games have been very fun to watch. If your a real fan of the strategy and touch, then the South American games have been good as well. I'm picking Argentina or Chile to win out.

Perhaps, but you certainly shouldn't discount Germany, Spain and Italy, who could easily have a good day and walk all over those teams.

I will watch the final intently.
I always find that exciting, but soccer footy in general, this American still doesn't find compelling.
Sorry.

Up to that point, I may put on a game or two running on ABC or Univision, but I won't exactly be glued to them.

I don't think Italy is nearly good enough to go all the way. Neither is Germany.

I'm rooting hard for New Zealand and Slovakia tomorrow, but I think Friday's matches will be more interesting.

Agreed, Italy are an aging team on the way out. Germany, when they turn it on are excellent. Unfortunately they haven't been able to do that against better opposition. I do think they will dismantle the English to meet Argentina in the quarter-final, which I see Argentina taking. But as Greavsie says, it's a funny old game.

Switzerland v. Spain was a good one to watch.

Okay, if you recorded Italy / Slovakia, definitely watch that one. If you're constrained on time, just watch the second half. What a rollercoaster ride!
