Christopher Hitchens has esophageal cancer

He's a weird dude, but I like to hear what he says, some of the time.

That's a nasty one, and the survival rates are poor. I know several people who died from it, including my late husband. We also have a forum member, who obviously I ain't about to name, who has it, too. You'd do well to keep the whole lot of them in your prayers, if that's something you're into doing. They need all the help they can get.

Every time I go in for my scheduled health review they ask if I have smoked. I reply "no".

I'm far from optimum health, but my Dr always says "thank God" in reply.

not to get too far off tangent, but if every prayer were answered and it worked, there's be a lot more people still alive today...

doesn't hurt, though.

My mom's mom had it. They gave her 6 months, she lasted over 12 years. They removed half of her esophagus, and @75% of her stomach. And this was back in 1975.

My sister's husband was diagnosed with it in 1989. They gave him 6 months. When he went in to start the treatments, they said it was gone.
