Looking for a good postal scale

Anyone have good recommendations? I have seen a good couple 5 lbs scales that leave .5 or 1oz. increments but were pricey. I think the 5 lbs. range is best for my purposes but found that I can have an option that you can enter current postal rates making everything faster to get your measurements. Of course looking for the least expensive. Also was wondering if a digital scale works any better than a clockface version. The pros of the latter is that you can always easily read the weight as opposed to possibly having the screen covered up by what you are weighing with the digital version.

I picked up a cheapie digtal one on eBay years ago and it has worked fine for my needs. I think it weighs up to 50 lbs. or something like that, but most things I send are under 5 lbs. It ran about $20 including shipping, IIRC.

It is very similar to this one, but mine is yellow:

USB not necessary - actually I never thought of one like that. I hadn't started my search on eBay yet. Still trying to find out if there is a better one than the other but thanks for the link!

The USB scale gets almost daily use at my office - the software isn't updated, but it still is useful to determine weight.

Do not buy a postal scale from an office supply store. Rip off. I got mine years ago from eBay. The seller was something like oldwillknot. I'm not near my computer but search postal scales on eBay and I am sure he will come up. Excellent seller with great prices.

I asked this a few weeks ago.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy this one.

But, then again the 55lb older model might be the better deal.

Ditto!

The thing with most scales is they do lbs. and 10ths of lbs. The Radio Shack scales do that, that's why we
have the link below right in my Bookmark bar:

Ounces to lbs. and ounces converter, I know we could use a calculator but this is handier.

and leave the scales set on ounces only.

This does ounces and tenths of ounces up to a pound. After that, it does pounds and tenths of pounds up to 10lbs.

A little pricey at $39.95, but no tax, and reasonably accurate.

this is the brand of scale i bought from eBay from oldwillknot. i just checked and he seems not to be selling anymore. this is a great price for this scale and it has been rock solid for over 4 years now. in fact, i was just working with it today to prepare the eMac i'm shipping out for pirate monday.

this scale will tell you the weight. to get a shipping rate you can simply look it up on the carrier of your choice. much more versatile than a scale that's tied into the USPS. it also works great as a kitchen scale.

mine came with an ac adapter. i suggest getting one since it seems they're only $3.49.

I use my Radio Shack USB scale frequently to weigh letters and packages. If you can find one of them it might do what you want.

I ended up buying this one. For the price it looks great and the screen separates from the base so large objects won't cover it. Thanks for all your help! The only thing is I had to buy the AC adapter separately and not from Amazon which meant additional shipping costs. But still came in lower than buying the 35 lbs. version!

we also bought from oldwillknot, and got a bigger beefier shipping scale that IIRC was in the $60 range, but goes up to 350#, so can also pull double duty as a bathroom scale (but doesn't). through my wife's work, we get discounted shipping, w/ the best rates if we pre-weigh and use special labels, so that prompted the big scale purchase. for small stuff, the venerable RSUSBS still reigns supreme.

I also have the pictured scale (75 pound max) bought on eBay from oldwillknott. Looks like his eBay store is no longer active, guess he got too big, as I Googled him and got a link right to his scale-superstore website.

Funny, oldwillknot is here in denver like me but the 55lb. scale is not available on his site and the deal on amazon is too good to miss. I even bought the AC adapter with a total less than the 35lb. version they were offering at oldwillknot.

my memory may be faulty but it does seem his prices were more amazonian when he was on eBay.
