Apple is a victim of their own success... and while they might provide the paint used for that target on their head - none the less, talk about something getting overblown. When comments too coming from 'experts' that then top it off by saying they don't like AT&T's network to begin with (ok, join the party - legitimate complaint - but not in this issue's context) - so that's you're real beef, why are you even qualified to talk about the iPhone then at all? And the now 'infamous' email from Jobs saying to hold the phone differently popping up in reputable news site articles - except that debunked as being from Jobs.

Apple used to be the underdog... and now - they are the best in a lot of ways and the role reverses. The only I will say is that just a tad more humility, or perhaps a bit less arrogance sure might offer benefit.

And all said - I really like the iPhone 4 and no plans to return. And we have a case for that.

I want to see Jobs sitting down holding a bag filled with Bumpers, his back to the crowd, tossing them one by one over his head, the reporters jumping up to get them like single ladies squealing and grasping for the garter at a wedding reception.

And then everyone can go back to hating him, and Apple, for not "addressing the real issue."

The extremes run both ways. When an inanimate object is deified, anything can happen. People invest more than their money, they invest their emotions and the media knows that. I'm sure a simple quiet fix will "cure" future iPhones (probably already done).

Their phones aren't perceived to be the cure for cancer like the iPhone is so there is no expectation of perfection.

Prior to the i4, I don't recall anybody ever mentioning that they lose bars and possibly drop calls when holding their brand of phone.

Maybe somewhere somebody did, but it obviously didn't have the Butterfly Effect of Apple.
