Got my new iPhone 4 today, and try as I might, I can't reproduce the "death grip" or disappearing bar problem on it. But a free bumper will be nice.

maybe some phones have better antenna than others, or perhaps moisture/texture of your skin affects the signal loss as well? or maybe you live 100' from an ATT tower?

At $30, I'd jump on a free bumper, too.

That's really the kind of "case" I'd like- enough friction to keep it from sliding out of your pocket too easily, you can lean it or stand it up, and it still shows off the 'Phone well.

PeterB, does that case look as nice as the pics?

I will probably order an iPhone 4 in mid-September, scoring the free band or case as a bonus. Not to mention possible engineering and/or software changes that may be incorporated by that time.

It's a pretty interesting case, yes it's nice, maybe not quite as nice as the pics (but then, what case is?) ... I got the smoke grey, only because I've got the BoxWave one still on its way, and went for blue on that one... in retrospect, I might have been tempted to get the blue, but on the other hand the smoke matches the black iPhone better. They do make other colors/patterns:

... hard to say whether I should have gone for a different color, without seeing "in person"... but I do think it was definitely worth the bucks... this case has a really nice "feel" to it, for lack of a better way to describe it... grippy but not sticky...

Sounds defective, call AppleCare and tell them that Steve Jobs said that ALL Smart Phones will have that behavior, and you want them to replace yours with one that works like Jobs said it should. Casually mention that you're also talking to Class Action lawyers.

...or maybe Apple has already made a production/design change, or maybe the "problem" for most users under most conditions is negligible.
