RIM and Nokia Respond to antennagate and Jobs press conference

Just to see for myself, I "tested" my 3GS, which apparently has its antenna towards the bottom. Without a case, the bars slowly go down while holding it in my right hand. Lay it down, the bars slowly go back up.

Neither losing or regain bars is instantaneous.

With case, my 3GS loses bars as well and when I lay it down, the bars come back.

Oh well, like I said, my iPhone is a better computer than a phone anyway.

My Blackberry loses two bars when I hold it as shown in the press conference. I never hold it like that however, and I don't suppose many people do.

Yep. Same with my Nokie e72, I bet I could effect the signal by holding the antenna (per the warning in the user manual), but I have no idea how I would hold it that way naturally.

Good that I don't even know where my antenna is.

Wow - RIM is in denial, and Nokia completely admitted this is a real issue - and Nokia was not even implicated by Apple!

Yes, it probably is.

Too bad other (smart)phones don't have that compensation for their antenna issues.

I read somewhere that all phone do now, and have for a while. The FCC mandates it, in order to keep the signal as far away from our brains as possible. Don't ask me to justify that explanation.

As stated when before, my BB bold goes from 5 down to 1 when I cup it in my hand at the bottom.
No big deal, I just dont cover that end of the phone when using it.

The high incidence of butt-dialing would seem to indicate that.
