This is the 3rd or 4th time today. Music playing through my computer form my iPod. Then it just stops. When i go to itunes it doesn't APPEAR there is a problem, until i try to press a button. Then i get the beachball. I can sometimes force quit itunes. Sometimes not. Sometimes the entire machine locks up. I cannot eject my ipod, b/c that locks up the finder. So basically i need to reboot the machine to get functionality back.

Aren't all the songs already in itunes? Why do you need to play them from the ipod? Have you tried the usual of rebuilding permissions? How about running Disk Warrior on it if you have it.

Songs are not in itunes b/c its a co. machine and i don't my stuff on their stuff. I don't think they do either. So I just play it through my ipod. usually works flawlessly.

Won't let me rebuild permissions on the ipod. haven't tried DW though.
