broken/bricked iPhone 2G - What do you do when everything has failed?

Just acquired an iphone 2G with the hopes of re-purposing it as a T-mobile phone or ipod touch for the wife. I knew it had some issues, but now that I have it, I'm wondering if I should just try and re-sell it to recoup my small investment.

It's stuck in recovery mode permanently. itunes sees it, asks to restore, goes through the process, and before it completes, it gives a 1603, 1604, 1611 or 1620 error message. Various reasons are given for these codes by apple: [support.apple.com]

I've tried running some of the 3rd party programs to try and force a revival (irecovery), but none seem to do the trick.

I've tried on a couple of macs, an xp machine, same diff.

anybody have a crackpot idea that I can try on this thing before I drop kick it out the door?

looks like you tried everything. maybe sell it for parts to recover most of the cost, how knows, you can maybe make a small profit? now the time you wasted is forever gone, you ain't getting that back

you are correct, sir. didn't pay asking price... I'm sure I could re-coup investment by flipping it on ebay.

I have an iPhone 2g with a cracked screen sitting on the shelf. Maybe between the two, there might be a working machine.

thanks, all. I decided to cut my losses and put it on ebay. Based on completed auctions, I should cover my costs (or at least come close).
