I've found Christmas!

She's the snake I was looking for yesterday.

I've been frantically searching for her since Thursday when I found out that she and her 3 friends had gone AWOL.

I found the friends that night but she remained missing. I've hardly had any sleep for the past two nights in hopes that I'd have a better chance at finding her at night (corn snakes are more active in the evening).

The little brat was hiding behind my chair, right by the base of the floor lamp. I know she wasn't there last night, though.

For what it's worth, Christmas is one of our most recent additions. We adopted her in August. 17 or 18 yrs ago, she was a Christmas present for the family's son. He's grown up now, and she was left behind, unwanted. The parents wanted her to go to a home that would value her.

Here's a pic. of her: [www.snakeawareness.com]
The boo-boo on her snout is from a mouse. Until she came to live with us, she'd been fed exclusively on live food. She'll have that scar for the rest of her life, unfortunately.

Anyway, I'm glad she's back. I was really worried about her being out since she's so old. When I picked her up she was cold but otherwise looked no worse for wear.

Now that she's back, I'm off to take a nap. Two nights of not enough sleep are catching up with me.

Thanks Larry. I think she's one of the prettiest corns I've seen.

Here's another pic of her: [www.snakeawareness.com]

I've never seen another corn snake that was iridescent like that (you can kind of see it on her back in that pic). Since she's so old, I think she comes from a time when "designer" colored snakes weren't common; therefore, I think her coloration is more of what would be found on a wild corn. Most corns now have been so selectively bred that it's hard to find ones with normal patterns & coloration.

Beautiful snake and a nice Christmas story to boot.

I'm going to have a little Egg Nog in celebration of your success.

thanks bangman. Egg nog's not a bad idea - except that I left that at my friend's house, so I have none here. But that sounds REALLY good right now.

For you--You found your snake!
For me--I found this forum!
(I thought I was suffering from holiday depression. As it turned out, I was suffering from forum withdrawal. I'm feeling MUCH better now.)
