OT: Prices of a 1965 Cadillac 2dr HT deVille coupe

I'm pasting family pictures in albums and going thru the sorted files of pics and misc.I found a sales ticket for a Cadillac my folks bought in 1965.

It lists all the "accessories" and their price. The total came to $6546.50 delivered price! I am surprised the "accesory" lit included a/c, radio, Tinted glass, WW tires, power head lights etc etc. I would have thought with a Caddie these would be included with the price. They are now, aren't they?

Another thing. My father was an MD (did everything medical). His mal-practice insurance all inclusive was $78.00 per year! I found that on his early 60's income tax statement. Now the insurance (according to one of my Drs) is $15,000 to $20,000.00 per year!

Amazing on the medical malpratice insurance. Thanks to lawyers it is probably even higher that $20,000 estimate. Fun memories!

Here is a four door for $9000 on eBay. Pretty snazzy ride.

I also found a certicate costing $1.00 in taxes for "narcotics license". I don't know if you have to have a license now but anyway back then you had to display a license to use narcotics and it cost $1.00. Very official looking certificate.

Sounds like the certificate is suitable for framing, Suzanne. Perhaps even the sales ticket for the Caddy . . .

A friend of mine just finished restoring a '65 Caddi convertible. I think he has $6500 in chrome plating and polishing alone.

And you still have to pay extra for the whitewalls today, although those shiny chrome pimp rims are the rough modern equivalent.

SamInTx, in the "good old days" everything was an option, GM took much pride in announcing that the 1970 Chevrolet BelAir could be ordered in one million different configurations, without a duplicate!
Seem like a great idea, turned into a nightmare for warranty repairs.
GM even invented new word combinations to cover options that you had to buy, if you purchased AC (an option), you also had to purchase the heavy duty cooling system, GM called it a "Mandatory Option". Same thing with the Four Speed transmission in the 1977 Camaro, you had to buy the Center Console, it was a "Mandatory Option". You see, the options seemed cheaper than Ford, and Chrysler options because their stuff was bundled with everything you needed.
