One radio caller - two good ideas!

Heard this woman this afternoon on Air America's Ed Schultz Show.

How to Get Out of Iraq:

Since Bush is so supportive of democracy - simply have an Iraqi National Referendum vote: Should American stay? Should America go? We do as their public decrees. They get to decide if they wasnt tp put up or shut up, and live with it. I can live with that (and it could be staged quite quickly actually)

How to prevent Boutique War:

Whenever a US President declares (or Congress declares if they had the balls) a War, then the USA automatically reinstates the Draft (Selective Service). ALL men and women between 18 and 22 years of age are eligible and will serve.
THERE ARE NO DEFERMENTS.

Going to Harvard? After your stint in the Army.
Flat feet? Bad heart? You fly a desk or push a pencil.
Daddy runs KBR, GE, or the US House of Representatives? Give Daddy your APO address.

Maybe when everyone actually has a stake in a War, we might actually think about starting one.

Both ideas have merit.

And well done to the lady who called them in.

I like that idea. Make each referendum on war a referendum on a new draft.

Except then there'll not doubt be a lot of "police actions," "peacekeeping," and "liberation."

MacMAgus-
Note that there are NEVER Referendums on declaring war. In short- those who bleed don't get a choice.

Those who bleed red that is.

Strength without compassion is brutality. Compassion without strength is weakness.

We must train our minds to desire what the situation demands.
