GM Cluelessness- a new $77K 500 hp Cadillac means "GM Isn't doomed"

And the article goes on in typical gearhead style to gush over this obscenely priced, overpowered 'coupe', which costs more than most people can (or should) afford and sucks fuel at a similar rate. (14mpg city)

I posit that this article is classic reason WHY GM is doomed. They continue to be so out of touch with reality. Let's face it- their decision makers don't buy gas. They don't buy cars. That's right- they get company cars, company gas, etc.

There's no "need" for augmentation mammoplasty either, but it's a thriving business.

No, Cadillac is a high end, high profit brand.

So are you suggesting that GM is really fukked because of poor managemnt and not because of union contracts and health benefits? Oh wait! those contracts would be the result of poor management as well, would they not?

Wonder how well past management was rewarded in bringing GM to such a state.

I want one.

Doesn't mean I'm buying one.

Didja ever notice the preponderance of SUV commercials? Detroit makes a lot more $$$ from high-markup items like luxury sedans and SUVs than regular cars.

When they sell, that is. Hence GM's current position.

It is what it is.

Contracts and Health Benefits are only part of the problem with GM. Maybe you
don't realize that there's no upper executive in any major corporation that doesn't
have a nice fat Contract of their own and most with a nice Golden Parachute to
protect themselves should they really scr@w the pooch while in there.

I don't know what "scraw" is.

Caddy is like, say, the Acer of luxury cars. Sure, the specs look good, but they have no real cachet whatsoever. People in that segment are going to continue to look over it in favor of the big expensive Benzes and Bimmers.
