Michigan and Ohio are back in play as swing states. Michigan's latest poll is a statistical dead heat Obama 48%, Romney 45% margin of error +-4%.

If you look at Nate Silver's analysis, the likelihood is that Obama is up by a couple of points, which is a drop for him since the debate. The problem for Romney is that he still has to run the table of the swing states in order to win, and Obama only has to be a couple of points ahead in each of those states to run the table himself. In other words, it's still looking like an electoral college blowout for Obama. A substantial swing that costs Obama Michigan, Ohio, and Florida would obviously change things, but it's unlikely that one debate is going to accomplish that.

The polls that Nate uses are just coming in. Once he gets more polls in a few days his analysis will show that Gov. Romney is on the road to victory. The Electoral College will be 269 to 269.

As if rational thinking has any place in politics.

Still, Biden needs to make sure Paul Ryan gets Borked this week.

Ryan is a policy wonk. He has statistics up the wazoo and he'll be pulling them out all debate long and will thus look like he is the great whiz kid to the over-the-hill VP. Rep. Ryan will Gish VP. Biden with that style. It worked on the President, it'll work on the VP.

Likely voters (as opposed to registered voters) are leaning towards Gov. Romney.

The Pew Poll is the only one showing Romney ahead. The media has gone berserk over it, I guess in the hopes that if it looks more like a race people won't stop watching their campaign coverage.

Yeah, Ryan is known for saying things that sound like they came out of his wazoo.
