The End of Democracy

Please, watch the linked video from Princeton University and send it to everyone you think cares about Freedom in America. This is terrifying stuff, and no - this isn't "Friendly Political Ranting" - this is essentially a terrorist attack on our country.

In 2003, Walden O'Dell, chief executive of Diebold, announced that he had been a top fund-raiser for President George W. Bush. In a letter dated August 14, 2003 in which he invited guests to a $1,000-a-plate fund-raiser at his suburban Columbus mansion, O'Dell stated that he was "committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president next year."

Just to be fair and balanced:

and then there's this about Florida in 2000:

(watch and listen to this sworn U.S House of Representative hearing testimony)

Steps to take:
1. Contact your board of elections
2. Contact your secretary of state
3. Write letters to the editor
4. Add this video to your favorites, rate, comment and share.
5. Vote absentee until this problem is corrected, even if you're lucky enough to be somewhere not using electronic voting--increased absentee voting will help bring attention to the issue.

Yes, it is.

And I join you in your friendly political message with the rest of my post...

A system of representative government should have transparent, reliable and verifiable measures in place to ensure that votes are counted properly.

Between the flaws in the voting machines, the inadequate training and negligence of polling-place operators and the cover-ups by both the manufacturers and by election officials, we don't have that in America.

Such a state of affairs should never have come to be. We are an embarrassment to the world and to ourselves. That this sad state of affairs should ever occur -- whether or not any election was actually rigged -- is an affront to all patriotic Americans. That fixing it is not a priority to our political leaders is anathema to our common ideology.

This needs to be in the 'Friendly'Political Ranting forum NOT this one. This is a tips and deals and friendly discussions forum.

This is politicdal and can be utilized as bait for ranting.

Can this and the following post be moved, please?

Thanks for posting this on this side.

Lots of interesting responses in the Trib blog.

Voting needs to be opena nd transparent. Therefore electronic voting needs to have a transparent OS and application, i.e. it needs to be open-sourced so that anyone can look at the coding to make sure that no shenanigans are taking place.

Not good that the Diebolds do not leave a verifiable paper trail either.

billb:

You don't find the potential tactic of stealing votes in a national election, and thus actually stealing the national election, is no cause for concern? I thought that's why we invaded Iraq, to give freedom loving, yet oppressed, people a chance to have their voices heard and votes count.

And it really doesn't matter how deep the dust is, it's kinda like murder, there ain't to statue of limitations on that kind of treason, even from the point of view of a lunatic.

Not sure about USA reruns, but if it runs on Fox it'll be a first run for them.
