Personally, I think Bernie's harsher tone is going to work against him. But the only way to know is in exit polling on April 19th.

Standing up for himself is the only option- now that people are paying attention the push is to make him look weak/dull witted/defenseless (I'm totally not suggesting that anyone is trying to feed into ageist stereotypes, shame on you for thinking that...). Dukakis took the high road when they used similar means to try to discredit him, and look how that turned out.

Not to worry, the rest of the media will just wash it under the rug and post a smiling almost human pic of Hillary.

Clinton was asked three times by Joe Scarborough a simple, direct question - "Is Bernie Sanders qualified to be President?"

It's a simple "yes" or "no" question. Joe didn't get one. Clinton, on each occasion, tried to spin away from a direct answer. She could have simply said, "Of course Senator Sanders is qualified, but we clearly differ on how we'd like to build America's future."

Her attempts at a non-answer answers quite honestly reminded me of Bill Clinton's "It depends on what your meaning of is, is." And that reminder is not a positive memory.

Big picture - I think Clinton's non-answers were a mistake.

They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

The issue was that she said that he was unqualified. She did not. But he said that she did so he said that she wasn't qualified based on her saying that he wasn't. That's the "only" reason why this is being discussed.

You mean, like all she had to do was say "yes"? She's a horrible person that may have the necessary experience for the job, but her demonstrated inability to be on the right side of so many important votes/policies ahead of the curve is alarming enough to arguably deem her lacking in qualifications.

He thinks he's voting to keep a Republican out of the White House, the irony here is that had he applied that same logic to the 2008 election he would have been supporting Hillary back then since a black man could never win the Presidency, could he?

So would you not vote for Sanders if he got the nomination?

The biggest joke of course, is that Clinton is the only actual Republican in the race. As my wife says, if her father, a lifelong Republican were still alive, he'd vote for Clinton. Trump is imbecilic, Cruz is a religious nutjob, Sanders is a Socialist, and Clinton, well, she's safely right of center, pro-business and sensible.

The world wants Sanders to win. The man is proven again and again to be on the right side of history. He has walked the walk.

Clinton will do whatever her puppeteers tells her to.
But, of course, I'd still vote for her if that's what it came down to.

And that's the rub, huh? Clinton has her supporters... and lots of them, but not one of them can tell you why she's the BEST person for the gig. I mean, actually providing a clear list of reasons where she has proven to be better in the majority of the policies she's backed or is backing, was right in her decisions in the past regarding things like the Iraq war, etc., etc. Not a one of them can do this. What's worse is they don't seem to care that she's not demonstrably the best candidate in comparison to Sanders. They can cherry pick one or two things, but as an overall candidate, there is no comparison... as others have pointed out, he's been on the right side of things far more often than not. Same can't be said for her. Quite the opposite, in fact. People are going to do whatever they want for whatever bullheaded reasons and that's fine, but it's absolutely frustrating on a logic level.

I'm still cautiously optimistic that enough people are going to realize all of this in time and the trend of the informed going with Sanders will continue well into June and give him the nomination.

The righties have been so conditioned to hate Clinton at this point you'd have to be pretty out of touch to think identified Republicans would be have any likelihood of voting for her.

I don't know what country you think this is, but if you're looking for some kind of Angel to swoop down and become the president of this democracy you live in a fantasy world. Want more corporatocracy, then vote for ANY candidate. The president is one person. If anybody can make any kind of headway it's Clinton. But to understand that you'd need to understand that there are shades of gray weaved throughout and not just the black and white vision that dominate your thoughts.

Actually, no. She is one of the worst.
Sanders has been right at least twice as often as the corrupt and ideologically bankrupt candidate you are pushing. And he is the best of the all candidates, no matter what party's altar you are praying to.....

I ran into an old friend yesterday.... also a staunch Hillary supporter. I remember she used to be fond of the "anti PC" rant and for an instant didn't know which way she'd be likely to lean politically.... remembred later that she grew up in Park Ridge though.

Want more corporatocracy? Vote Clinton.

Then come November vote for somebody else.

This! I think many people are confused as to what the end game is in a Federal election and what the stakes are if you lose it. The republican candidates and platform are so extreme that significant changes to the country's laws and policies will occur if they get in, and it is going to badly hurt a lot of people who otherwise would not be. For me, it is more critical that they be defeated than that we have a president who believes the way I do. It is rare in politics that you get to vote in a person that exactly engenders your ideas. For a leftie like me, this is because most of this country is way over on the right. It is necessary to support those who are that not only engender some of your ideals, but more importantly the majority of the country can also support. I would love it if we had a government made up of Bernies. We're not even close to that. Instead of Bernie, I will vote for someone I believe can get the support of the electorate and who I believe can further an agenda that engenders a lot of (though definitely not all) of my ideals. It does me no good to vote for a candidate who will likely lose and then even if he wins will be ineffective in Washington.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

They decided early on that she had the best name recognition and thus the best chance of winning the general election, and stopped paying attention. Remember when the primary election process was supposed to help determine who the strongest candidate was?

I'm young enough to never have remembered this time.

I think he's remembering a time that never existed.

If we fail to protect the Executive Branch, there is a nightmare of damage that they can unleash. Take away everything we've fought for. It will be the poor that suffers the most.

Perhaps.
