Oh, by the way, Britain just left Europe

It's in all the papers.

'No turning back' on Brexit as Article 50 triggered

Here's a bit about it from those folks who bring you all those other delightful PBS shows. [www.bbc.com]

'The Adventure Of The Bloody Brexit.'

More right-wing misadventures.

Too bad the British (or maybe soon, the English/Welsh UK-rump remaining) had to learn a lesson as painful as the one we are living.

I would like to point out that we have not left Europe, we haven't even left the European Union yet however today we triggered the start of the process for leaving.

I cannot see us ever leaving Europe.

Your PM seems to disagree:

Where does she say they are "leaving Europe"? As opposed to the EU?

Europe is a continent of which we here in the UK are part of. No matter how stupid politics get in the next few years I still do not see us leaving Europe. We will be leaving the EU some time in the future.

Yes, we know it's the formal beginning of the exit process from the EU structure, but it's massive. It seems to me the future of London financial community is in greater jeopardy then everyone is letting on. I believe this will cause unwelcome grief in every aspect of British life as the EU links and regulations are removed.

I mean, good luck and everything, but from what I have read and heard since the vote, you are in for a hard blow.

Oh come on, Paul. That's like saying Scotland will never leave Great Britain.

True enough, but also a little politically obtuse.

In other news India is leaving Asia and Namibia is leaving Africa. If you mean getting the facts right "obtuse" then obtuse I will be.

The UK has survived far worse than Brexit, and has continued to soldier on.

After all, what did Sir Humphrey say to the Minister for Administrative Affairs about the reason for the UK to join the EU in the first place? "We went in to screw the French..." (Yes Minister, S02E05)

...and the Scottish Parliament just voted to hold a referendum to leave Great Britain the UK:

Quote
NYT
By a vote of 69 to 59, members of the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh approved plans to request a referendum on independence that could take place just before Britain completes its withdrawal from the European Union, a process known as Brexit.

Of course, such a vote has to be approved by the British Conservative PM, Theresa May, who has already rejected the timing the Scots would prefer.

To say nothing of the folks on the (now-unguarded-but-maybe-not-later) border between Northern Ireland and the Irish State.

But are you factoring in plate tectonics? Over the long run, they've proven to be a wild card.

This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.

Any comment in hindsight about how involved Russia was in whipping up pro-Brexit sentiment?

You're gonna have to wait for 2019 fr it to be official and they leave the EU, not Europe, but carry on with the fake news and ignorance.

They ain't filling in the moat either.
