At least 50 killed.

Automatic gunfire at an open-air music festival. They killed the gunman.

The gunman has been identified. They are seeking his female companion.

Parts of the city are on lockdown. Several casinos are closed. They evacuated the Mandalay Bay. There's limited access to the airport.

This is the portion of the day where everything reported earlier proves to be wrong.
Gunman shot himself. More people were wounded than first thought. Woman not involved.

A nutjob with an automatic rifle. And I say "nutjob" regardless of his politics or religion.

That said, I'm glad he doesn't seem to be an immigrant, a muslim, or a black nutjob, because if he had, we would never have heard the end of it from the usual bunch - you know, the ones that always complain about "the politicization of tragedy", as if these damn shootings were a natural disaster, instead of yet another nutjob with an arsenal.

I wake up this morning and wonder where my gun-totin' 2nd Amendment quotin' friends are on social media...telling us how guns are necessary to protect us from the bad guys.

Almost a dozen semi-automatic rifles. This was planned for a long time .. he'd been in the hotel for 4 days... chose the room specifically for his target. I expect, as they trace his movements, that they will discover he practiced shooting from that height, etc... An angry old man with a sniper fetish.... Ugh.

A tragedy and a horror. I hope that the victims will be celebrated, and this madman will end up in the trash heap of history, where he belongs. People 'getting famous' by being mass murderers should STOP.

It's so hard to wrap my mind around the why's.

Eloquent. One syllable words in his response. Maybe Melania can get him a Synonym/Antonym dictionary for Christmas to expand his vocabulary.

Many hotels overseas I have been in you have to screen anything you carry into the hotel. That is probably what eventually we will have to do.

Well, they didn't make the shooter an immigrant, or black, or muslim, but the right-wing crazies (including Gateway Pundit) decided:

"Las Vegas Shooter Reportedly a Democrat Who Liked Rachel Maddow, MoveOn.org and Associated with anti-Trump Army.”

Just one problem (among many, I guess) -they named the wrong guy as a mass murderer.

Nice.

Trump reading his condolences (in short words so he can pronounce them) to millions of gun-toting Americans, who are just about able to understand them, is farcical.

It's a foul and demented joke you play upon each other.

I am so tired of this crap. There's blood on the hands of every person who has resisted common sense controls on firearms using the fallacious "slippery slope" argument that any restrictions on firearms is a ploy to ban all firearms.

The REAL slippery slope is the slow but steady increase of mass shootings in terms of both frequency and number of victims.

Quite. At this point, it's as if the NRA littered America with land mines. Every day, one goes off and kills a person or two; occasionally, one goes off and kills many more. There's no safe place any more, and there's soooo many scattered around that trying to reverse the process will take years and years.
