Cheney probably hurried them up so that the execution wouldn't step on Gerald Ford's mourn week.

They postponed his brother so as to not interfere with the actual event.
What about this spectacle should we as Americans take pride in?

It took a boatload of deception and lying to even be in a position to engineer the hanging of Saddam Hussein. If they could have done it without all of the lies, that's one thing. But they did not. They purposefully lied through their rotten teeth, to wreak havoc. What's there to take pride in?

I think the death penalty is morally unacceptable and have always maintained it to be.
That doesn't mean I root for criminals like Hussein. Rather, it means that I respect the
principle of human life...and that's right across the board. There are no ifs and buts
when it comes to the sanctity of this principle.

I have no problems with the death penalty per se, and I think Saddam got off cheap for all he has done.

But he got railroaded pure and simple - and there is nothing to be proud about this war and the realities of why we are effing up the whole region over this.

If you are truly proud of what we have done, then you will have no complaints in the fututre when the cleaning bill comes due. But your kids and grandkids might.

Be sure to explain it to them why you are so proud.

It pays, but it costs as well.
