Two friends of mine in different parts of the country..New Mex and near D.C. have texted to tell me that a cop friend and a Homeland security friend of theirs..respectively. Have given them heads ups.. to get their supplies and get ready for a closing down of ALL state borders in the U.S. starting Sunday..

Im talking with the New Mex friend and trying to sort the text he received on his end..looking for stupidity, ridiculousness and inconsistency that speaks to total BS..

We both agree that there is no reason to do this without reasonable warning to everyone..Right?

This announcement would come, tomorrow, 1 day before this alleged 'closing of all borders.

We both agree that Sunday is an odd day for this...right?

He suggested posting our query on Facebook..i suggested posting it here..

And i didn't see a reason to post it in Political side of the forum...it's a fairly general info sort of thing
and looking for opinion, on something that could affect everyone..not politcal..

I dunno, when these things are announced some people like to take advantage of their last moments of freedom. I say close it down with little notice unless people are going home.

Of course this whole idea is premised on splitting up geographic areas so the Iowa virus doesn't cross into Nebraska. I'd like to see a mathematical model show that its worthwhile. That said, epicenters should be contained.

State and local police are being given free rein from restraints that many of them resent, for now they are the only available authority and some will undoubtedly abuse it.

Agreed. we talked about this, it would be the cherry on the top, devastating..

Also wondered what it would really accomplish..given the situation right now..most folks are already staying close to home..

but we also discussed Trump doing something dramatic (and stupid) to show a big 'act'
for political purpose..

I would guess about a million kids are on Spring Break and would run out of money having to stay at beach motels. The gummint better be ready to either fly/bus them home, or put them all in refugee isolation camps.

I think this is a morph of some viral crap that has been moving around regarding a mandatory, national, 2 week in home quarantine with the national guard involved...started floating
over the last two weeks..

We'll find out tomorrow if it's real...seemed odd coming from two places, same evening..folks i know very well

..not the same exact message but similarly in it's extreme nature and mentioning closed state borders...tho, nothing here is a really extreme in the current context and in a relative sense.

The state of California tried it's best to close their border with Arizona during the Great Depression - LA city cops were dispatched with orders to turn back Oakies looking for a haven from the Dust Bowl.

Not a whole lot different from New Orleans suburban cops turning back Katrina refugees at gunpoint.

My previous post isn't to say I believe it will happen. Now it's on this side, I think Putin has got his trolls pumping up the swivel-eye loons. Everybody that believes it may as well reply to a Nigerian Prince email.
