This KnowledgePanel survey conducted April 1-2, 2020 finds that 47% of Americans approve of the way Donald Trump is handling the response to the coronavirus, down from 55% two weeks ago and 51% in last week's ABC News/ Washington Post poll.

This poll has a fairly large 5% margin of error so it's not so much the particular numbers that matter as much as it is the probable noticeable trend of a drop in Trump's coronavirus response approval.

I think some people speculated here that his recent high approval numbers are a result of a kind of "rally around the flag during national emergency times" effect. If so, that may be waning - especially as the number of deaths increases.

Waning rally around the flag, as you said, but I think/hope there are a couple other things at work here.

First, I hope people are getting tired of listening to him waste their time.

Second, I hope the realization of how badly his nearly two months of denials and inaction hurt the country is gaining some traction.
