Antibodies don't stick around in the blood forever. You could have had it a couple of months ago and still be immune. Your lymph may be hiding killer white blood cells and yet you'd test negative.
But then, the false-positive rate is pretty high. Even if you test positive, it doesn't mean that you've had the disease or have any immunity to it.
So, relying on the results of an antibody test is probably not the greatest idea.
