Wasn’t paying attention because I read, “minors” and noticed the kids. But no I guess not? Do I need to watch it again? Some really nice voices there.

But hey ... if all the whites vote against him he’s surely sunk.

I can't stand that song, not even when it has a positive message version like this.

“No persons are more frequently wrong, than those who will not admit they are wrong.” -- François de La Rochefoucauld

"Those who cannot accept the past are condemned to revise it." -- Geo. Mathias

The German word for contraceptive is “Schwangerschaftsverhütungsmittel”. By the time you finished saying that, it’s too late

It's a cutsie, not ever intended to become of worldwide notice. The fame took them by surprise not unlike Trump's election took him.

I've been having a rich discussion with my wife. I think the ENTIRE POINT of this ad was it was white people rejecting the Lyin' King.

She keeps reminding me the KEY is to get WHITE PEOPLE to see how toxic The Orange Emperor is.

They'll never be able to pull away large numbers of white Trump supporters (is that redundant?), but if they can get even one or two percent to change that could make all the difference in the election and its immediate aftermath.

Speaking of white Trump supporters - an NBC poll shows that Trump STILL has a 47% to 42% lead over Biden with white voters (and I'm sure among white male voters it's quite a bit higher than that). Uhg. As a white male I'm totally appalled by that.

Some good news in that NBC poll:

Quote

What's more, half of voters — 50 percent — say there is no chance at all that they would vote for Trump (compared with 37 percent who say the same of Biden).

And in a separate question, a majority — 52 percent — say they would be "very uncomfortable" voting for Trump (compared with 38 percent who say that of Biden).

e pluribus unum

For years decades I've been waiting for those macho males to die off, it appears now I may get there first.

It's on us to fix that number, Ted. White cisgender men have a hard time listening to anyone other than White cisgender men talk about racism, sexism, and other entrenched causes of disparity. They generally hate that from White cisgender men, too, but it's harder to dismiss us out of hand. We often are the only people in the room with the social and/or political capital to spend contesting prejudice and inequity. Because we are well aware of the costs, however, we frequently fail to speak out of fear, anxiety, or simple rational self-preservation.

But it's still up to us, Ted. Solidarity helps in this (local is better than remote, but here we are), so I'm telling you I'm in it with you. To listen, help, reflect, and assist as useful. Thanks!

That would depend on the social structure of the cisgender crowd - would it not? I can envision some pretty strenuous encounters if your ordinary habitat is a bowling alley or sports bar and not a book club or wine bar.

(added cisgender to my dictionary-just encountered it within the last month or so and still not sure if I understand - the city I grew up in just added polyamorous relationships to it's definition of insurance covered relationships)

I'm doing my best to keep up but you know, two dictionary additions in a month...

Indeed so. Nonetheless, in my experience even self-identified liberals often react badly when racism, sexism, etc. in their worlds is centered and emphasized. Lots of White cisgender guys who are delighted to lob accusations of bigotry at conservatives are a lot less interested in discussing how much they pay their housekeeper, or how their daughter's exploration of Islam is proceeding, or why the location of their next home purchase is primarily based on finding a 'good' (read: wealthy, predominantly White) public school for the kids...
