Dumbf going into business for himself… again. Congress appropriates money, not the executive branch.

Then Dumbf gets challenged on the facts and abruptly leaves the room.

That won't even pay rent for many families. They've begun evicting tenants here in Los Angeles - noticed the Gov of VA went to court to extend their moratorium into Sept. Big shot, big name Calif guy hasn't done jack about eviction problem.

There's a hodgepodge of eviction moratoriums in CA. Varies by city, county. It should be a statewide moratorium for both renters and landlords. Banks have to get involved in this, too.

And once this is all over, how will some of these people ever repay their rent. When it's a month or two, OK. We're working on month SIX now… and by the time things normalize again - if they ever do - it could be this time next year.

Day-to-day existence for lower income folks is already a real mess - it was a house of cards before - and there's no doubt it's going to get even worse. It might not ever get better.

It's a bank issue - they were bailed after 2008, now they need to roll back mortgage obligations to allow owners and landlord with renters time to recover.

Aside from tRump not having the authority, the real kicker is it isn't actually $400. It's $300 provided by the federal government, with each state expected to provide the additional $100. States don't even have the money they need to cover their regular unemployment benefits.

Edit: In addition to the obvious lack of authority, I just heard a legal expert say Executive Orders have no power over states, so tRump can't compel the states to kick in any money.

He can’t set tax law. He knows he can’t set tax law, but he doesn’t care. He makes his little show and that’s all he cares about.

Another document signed by Trump on Saturday attempts to defer payroll tax payments from September through December for people who earn less than $100,000. The impact of this measure could depend on whether companies decide to comply, as they could be responsible for withdrawing large amounts of money from their employees’ paychecks in a few months when the taxes are due.

The president said if he wins reelection he would seek to extend the deferral and somehow “terminate” the amount of taxes that are owed. He also dared presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden to try and recoup the deferred tax payments if elected in November. The payroll tax funds Social Security and Medicare benefits, and it’s unclear where those programs will get funding if the taxes are deferred.


Please make sure that all AARP members know that Cheeto is threatening their Medicare and SS benefits.

Now that we're seeing the details of those EAs, it turns out that no one will see any additional UI benefits. It requires each state to sign on and agree to kick in the extra $100 and to administrate the benefits.

That pretty much guarantees zero state participation, and without that, people of the state get nothing.
