I think I'll skip the debate

I can be as close minded as any Trump deplorable - nothing can be said that will change my mind. All that trump will do is get my blood pressure up.

I wonder is Antiques Roadshow is on tonight?

I've been skipping live news programming for most of the last four years for similar reasons.

I never missed anything of national political importance since Ike, but I can't watch Trump. I will watch the "Greatest Hits" of his insanity later, though.

You do see the irony of that statement, right?

I'll watch for the same reason people watch NASCAR - there's a reasonable chance that something is going to crash and burn.

If I can stay awake until 10:30 it'll mean that thing was pretty interesting.

i'll have it on while ironing or clearing files in my office so the time won't be completely wasted. that's been my strategy for debates and national conventions.

I’m looking forward to watching it. I expect to see Trump’s greatest hits replayed except without the cheering cult.

It shouldn’t be called a debate if Trump is there. He doesn’t debate. He berates. Here’s the synopsis of what Trumpy will say...

”You’re an idiot!”
“You’re a liar!”
“Everything was in shambles when I took office.”
“Obama and Biden ran this country into the ground.”
“I am the greatest!”

Trump’s base is looking for nothing less than a fist fight. They have no use for facts.

I sit on a man’s back, choking him and making
him carry me, and yet assure myself and others
that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his
lot by all possible means — except by getting off
his back. - Leo Tolstoy, novelist and Philosopher

Joe Biden, a/k/a the Senator from Mastercard, has never been a street fighter and won't come off well if there is a verbal brawl. People may not know what Trump is but they certainly know who he is so it's time for Biden to remind them of who he is.

I won't be watching. There is no incentive under the sun that could persuade me to vote for Trump, that was true last time and remains true today.

I'm going to try to watch it, but I doubt I'll be able to stomach Trump for very long unless he is just disintegrating in front of everybody - which would be the car wreck Lemon Drop is talking about. I mostly want to get an idea of how Biden is doing. Since he seems to have a pretty good lead, it just makes sense that all he has to do is look like he's got a good handle on the issues, cares about people and come across as someone who is ready for the job of being president. I'm pretty confident he can do that, but I hope he can show that he has an inspirational vision for America that stands in stark contrast to Trump's black hole of corruption. But I'll probably have to find out after the debate is over whether he did that or not because I doubt I'll make it more than 10 minutes.

We’re taking a kid to a basketball workshop this evening. This COVID crap that Trump decided is a hoax has us doing workarounds first lots of stuff, including finding new ways to let the kids exercise.

I can't think of a single logical reason that I should watch the debate. However, I'm going to at least start watching it. I guess I have some curiosity as to what Trump will say in the absence of a cheering audience and complete control over the microphone. I'm really hoping for a complete train wreck from him. Given where Trump is in the polls combined with his inability to string complete sentences together in any meaningful fashion I think this is Biden's to lose.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

The one, MOST important reason I'm watching this: I want to see Biden-Man skewer Orange Dump on how he is personally responsible for the death of 200K+ Americans. The B-Man has a constitutional obligation, if he wants to be President, to confront Orange Dump on his statements of how he's done such a "great job" on the coronavirus, that it only affects old people, how you can treat it with bleach, and other frothy bits of feces emanating from Orange Dump's maw.

Any American who still has half a brain left after the last 3.5 years is already about as embarrassed by the clown in orange who lives in the WH as they can be. Tonight will not do anything to make that feeling better.

Hope you saw it. It was one of the most amazing moments in American History. Trump raging and yelling over anything Biden or Chris Wallace had to say. A complete disgrace and a solid argument for Trump in prison.

FTFY.

I think it will be "amazing" in the sense that, if Orange Dump is voted out on Nov. 3, this might have been the turning point. He needed to turn around the perception of his administration and of him personally, and he did little or nothing to accomplish that.

Since his new home might end up being the clink, they already receive hazardous duty pay.
