What Are Your Plans for November 3rd?

Curious as to how others will navigate November 3. Glued to tv and social media? Untethered to the real world by reading or watching movies determined not to tune back in until Wednesday morning? Out on the streets helping others get to the polls? In a catatonic state under a weighted blanket?

i guess i could have made this a poll but i suspect the answers will be too varied.

I am hoping to be out in the wilderness far away from any cell signal, but circumstances are working hard against me.

No matter what I may pretend to plan, I might as well accept that I am going to be on social media with like-minded friends, sharing stories and trembling with anxiety. We don't have cable, so I will be looking at Twitter a lot to keep up with things. What I WISH is that I could go to sleep November 2nd and wake up November 4th.

NYT had a recipe last week for the Perfect Chocolate Chip cookie. I’ll be making a double batch and then walking around to friends’ homes to deliver them.

That is, AFTER I vote in person with N95 mask (I’m bringing my own pen) in Pennsylvania.

As much as I will hate it, I will be watching the returns on cnn and msnbc.

Will be a regular work day, we already voted in my closest family.

May keep an eye out on work support issues.

Plan to check 538 in case there is a clear win someplace like Florida.

Otherwise, will hopefully follow for the next two weeks.

I will try not to look at the news, but I know I won’t be able to not check in here.

which is why if i choose the head in the sand route i need to turn off any device with a browser, news app or Facebook. i think that leaves a real book and the roku.

or maybe i'll just play my guitar all day and into the night.

Netflix and chill unless the rioting gets close.

(I already voted and I know that the final numbers won't be tallied for at least a few days in most states.)

We might have to be in the same support group. Lol.
I may make a deal with my husband that we will only stream that night and tell my texting friends not to text me.
I can tell my daughter to call on the landline, if she needs us. smiling smiley

I'll be watching the news, because it's not just a question of the election itself, but all the civil unrest that's likely to be occurring at the same time and afterwards.

I'll be tuned in to news after 7 PM; good wine and food will be involved.

Prior to that time I hope there is no reason to tune in - I hope for a peaceful day of last minute voting for everybody who wants to participate.

It’s the day after we launch a new LMS (that few will use right away) so we’ll all in my dept be monitoring that and responding to any issues that come up. So I’ll be at work, thankfully.

I have a Wed call with friends (yes, over Zoom), so I think we'll keep that, as the results may be dribbling in beyond that day.

I'm not counting on having a firm result until at least 3 days later, so i'll be heading out for a bike ride.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

Gonna take the day off and hang out with some union member in open carry Texas. We're going to watch the "election observers".

Of course not. Most of the others sound more interesting.

I will be glued to my television and my computer looking at lots of things including House and Senate races. But mainly I will be eagerly anticipating an early Biden lead in Florida and maybe one or two of the other states that Trump absolutely has to win to have any chance at all. Some states set up the ballots in the counting machines in advance, so the results for early voting and mail-in ballots can become available within a couple of hours. Supposedly Florida is one of those states.

But if any of you technical wizards would like to set up and host a zoom party for MRF participants, that would also be fun. If not November 3, then maybe January 19.

I will be sleeping. I was informed by my boss that I will need to be at work at 2AM Nov 4 in case coverage runs long. There is anticipation of late night parties if Biden wins and riots if Trump wins.

Yep.

I’ll be taking a nap in the afternoon and watching PMSNBC* into the wee hours.
