I was just wondering if that was a term you felt OK being called. Does it make sense. If not, why not? If so, then why?

Like vision said, we all came here to this group of forums under a common, yet totally unrelated guise. Please let us know if there are any other descriptors we should be aware of, thanks.

Or, if names and assumptions about other forum members are irrelevant, that too is an interesting perspective.

I'm a rightist. But that's just because I'm right all the time.

There are very few such individuals on MRF, in part because those that ARE rational conservatives do not want to be affiliated with the likes of Buck.

My guess is there are many on MRF are fiscal conservative since we are started out as shared cheapskates. I admit I am guilty of this.

I am also an entrepreneur, and I want the freedom to try new things and have as much $$ in my pocket to invest in new ideas. I've started 4 companies, and I have ideas for more. None have returned massive capital back into my pocket, so I need to keep what I earn from my day job for these innovation hobbies.

And I think that for many aspects of our society, the government should be the place of last resort to solve things. But there are plenty of such examples where that is EXACTLY what good government does like pure research.

And I ALSO happen to believe in the US Constitution, and that everyone should have the right to vote, equal right under the law, and that there are safety nets for all.

So where do I sit politically?

I no longer recognize the current GOP party - it's certainly not about fiscal responsibility or equal rights or defending the Constitution.

I fit in the current broad Dem tent, but there might be lefties who would not want to share the tent with me.

You’re welcome to stay, sekker. But if you’re rich, we’re still going to raise your taxes.

Speaking of Fred Nutzkie, where did he ever get off to, anyway? He was a fairly well known forum conservative/nut.

I've been accused of being a rightist on this forum by several members. Although I am right handed, I am not right wing politically. I also would not identify as left wing. so, my chances of flying in the near future are virtually non-existent.

I think part of the problem here is that there are a few members who are right wing (see Buck's thread below this one) and rather violently and ignorantly right wing to the point that it causes the left leaners to overreact when someone doesn't agree with them on a point.

Maybe after Joe Biden is inaugurated, we can start to heal the rift, but I fear that will not be possible until Donald Trump disappears from public view.

Back in the 90s, I used to have fun arguing with Reagan rightwingers. Just harmless fun, but arguing with Trumpies just makes me mad or sad depending.

Thanks. I feel the same about you.

I think people in our area are a bit more open minded than other parts of the country, and although we tend to vote democrat, I don't think we can be contained in that box.

I think there are a fair number of economic conservatives that recognize that we have a mixed economy with capitalism uncomfortably coexisting with socialism. The question isn't - as it is too often framed - one of capitalism OR socialism, but rather how much of each is optimum; or at least how much of each achieves a stable social/economic balance in a vigorous democracy?

And if I were that rich, I’d be happy to pay my fair share ... both US Treasury and MRF fees...
