California orders overnight cerfew

What officials are calling a limited stay-at-home order requires nonessential residents to stay home from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting Saturday.
It affects counties with the most severe restrictions, 41 of the state’s 58 counties that are in the “purple” tier under California’s color-coded system for reopening the economy. That covers 94% of the state’s nearly 40 million residents....

...While nonessential businesses must close by 10 p.m., restaurants will be permitted to offer takeout food and people can perform some routine activities like walking the dog, officials said. They will still be able to get medical care, pick up prescriptions and take care of other essential needs.

Officials said overnight movements are more likely to involve social activities that bring increased risk of infection, particularly if people drink and let down their guard on basic safety precautions like wearing masks and staying a safe distance apart.

Newsom lost any credibility he might've had left with his appearance at a birthday party in Napa. He's just another Covidiot, and he has likely opened a real can of deplorable worms who are both ready and willing to shift the state back to rural rule as soon as the next election.

A real dumbass move, Gavin. You'll likely to be joining Gray Davis on the Gubernatorial Rejects Tour. Of course, you can always name yourself as the next US Senator from California and be out of reach - well, as long as Kamala actually gets sworn in next January.

Nobody is gonna remember that. Not the way news cycles nowadays. I have a theory that I believe holds up well.

Notice that the vast majority of statewide seats are from NorCal? The majority of the population is of course in SoCal. People in the south don't follow the day to day of the northern politicos. But they do the ones in the south. They're harder on the ones they know.

I don't think so. We all suffer lapses in judgment sometimes. This was a dumbass mistake but not a huge one, and rather than be an unapologetic Covidiot, he's owned up to his mistake and apologized. For the most part I think he's been doing a great job of managing the pandemic response in California.

He's owning up because he got caught. He KNEW the people aren't supposed to do that, but he did it anyway. I've never had a really high opin of him except in the early days of the pandemic. As soon as he let the Musk call the shots on reopening, I gave up on him.

He can't do that, how can he take credit if someone else issues the press release?

Besides, some law enforcement have already come out to say they won't enforce the curfew.

He's almost as stupid as Trump, but not nearly as evil-minded.

I heard about the Gavin dinner again and again while listening on talk radio in the car. The right wingers are loving pointing out the hypocrisy of it all, but they continue to talk as if the virus really isn't anything to get worked up about. The fact that the death total has now exceeded our WWII combat deaths has gone missing on them.
