Ex-Senator John Danforth, Republican of Missouri, today told @tonymess about Hawley, "Supporting Josh and trying so hard to get him elected to the Senate was the worst mistake I ever made in my life.”

For my own state, I've found it very interesting that both Kennedy and Scalise are on that list (no surprise about Scalise, but Kennedy being on there is sad), BUT... no Bill Cassidy. Cassidy had the presence of mind to say that we had a rightfully elected President based on the Electoral College votes, and that what the rioters were doing was anarchy, pure and simple. I can't stand Cassidy but I was very happy he said this.

.@ProjectLincoln will be running a brutal corporate pressure campaign targeting Companies, Trade Associations, CEO’s, Directors and senior leadership of organizations that serve as the financiers of the Authoritarian movement that attacked the US Capitol. For example, Donations that are made to @GOPLeader, any organization he controls or any committee he controls will draw an action.

We will hold these companies and people accountable in the public square. @USChamber

These will have scarlet letters their entire political lives.

They might be able to weather them at home, but none will be able to serve national offices or get Senate-confirmed positions.

I'm a little surprised that everyone's favorite alt-Pirate Dan Crenshaw is not on the list.

Mildly pleased that he has some sense of true patriotism and duty. I still don't agree with his politics at all but at least he's not completely trolled by or subjugated to this kleptokakistocracy.

Speaking of which since their motto is "Stop the Steal" is anyone paying attention to what the Trump Toadies are actually stealing right now as this administration begins to shut down?

While we're at it also NO DEVIN NUNES??!

My local rep (Dan Webster - FL) is on the list and will still get reelected. He'll be cheered by The Villages.

then there is Skelator aka Ric Scott. I'd just about welcome Ted Cruz to be rid of him.

Kind of surprised Ron Johnson sat this round out. Must have been his day off.

I saw that earlier as well but take exception, Danforth's biggest mistake was shepherding Clarence Thomas through the confirmation process.

I’m from MO. Danforth’s an old skool conservative, a thoroughly decent person and someone we could wave to while passing him in the aisle at Tiger Stadium at Mizzou. But as see here, also happy to sit back until OMG how-could-that-have-happened. In more quaint times it would have been News of all these sorts said anything publicly. These days it just comes across as too little too late if you ask me.

I get that it’s more than fair to let most politicians actually retire. But would it hurt them to at least mea culpa preface their umbrage with an acknowledgement of some sort?

I mean, are ANY of them talking about how to prevent this again?

Senate lost too short. Include the original lot who only backed out yesterday afternoon. Too little too late.

This makes me really happy. And means that Schmidt will not instantly pivot to attacking Biden and the majority of dems.

The time will come when either they will become the new Democratic Party or they will turn back into the troglodytes they originally were and attack anything progressive Dems might otherwise support.
