The Next Four Years…

It wouldn't be going very far out on a branch to suggest that the next 4-5 years will be grizzly at best and a disaster at worst. The events of the last few months are a culmination of years, even decades of discontent - from many facets of society. Now that the fuse has been lit, and the first bombs exploded, it feels less and less like can or will be any kind of happy ending to this.

When we start hearing stories about those who are trusted to protect the public joining in with seditionists and criminals from all parts of the country, things have indeed turned a very ugly corner.

The good vs evil historical storyline doesn't always favor the side of the good

Take away Cheeto's ill gotten warchest that was garnered by fraudulently promoting non-existent election fraud, and spread that quarter-billion around to worthwhile causes, and that will soften the yuckies up enough that the future will be more palatable.

100% with you. Trump might be on his way down but the same forces are still in place.

A generous portion of the discontent is manufactured.

Right, the spark was always there. But various propaganda efforts fanned the flames into something more.

I'd like to be more optimistic and think that -- with a different driver for the car, we might end up at a different destination.

It's true that the elements that have led us all to this point will not disappear with the elimination of Dump, clearly they're not going away, but the situation overall might become more normalized, we will likely steer more towards center overall, and those fringe elements will become more marginalized and therefore less credible or acceptable. And the fringe elements can always speak up, they CAN have their say, they can always hold demonstrations (peaceable ones, NOT what they just tried doing in the Capitol)... it is a free country and they are allowed to express their opinions, so long as it doesn't result in threats or violence. As a leader, Joe has promised to try to heal the land and the nation. I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt and the opportunity to try.

Remember the old saying: "whenever you smell the stink of the fish, look to the head."

I think these people are past the debating stage.

If they make threats or become violent, lock 'em up. They claim to believe in law and order, so they should understand that actions have consequences.

Rush Limpbag’s imminent passing is a good omen. Soon Rupie. Maybe things can change for the better, even if only incrementally.
