Two Moderna shots received this morning

My husband and I both got our first dose of the Moderna vaccine this morning.
They were kind enough to let me get my shot today, even though I was actually scheduled for tomorrow, due to a mistake on my part. RollingEyesSmiley5

They also gave us a flyer about signing up for v-safe, which seems to be a CDC program where they send you text messages at certain intervals after you receive a vaccine to follow up to see if you have any adverse effects or anything.

I did the sign up, but I haven't received a check up yet, but I think they may do one either today or tomorrow, then at predetermined dates in the future.

Ours was a drive thru set up. We then parked and waited 15 minutes to see if we had any reaction. Neither of us did, so we were on our way. The whole thing took about 45 minutes, from the time we got in line to when we pulled out of the lot.

We go back on the 18th for dose 2.

Congratulations. My wife is in Phase 1b and yesterday our health provider started taking appointments and she was able to make one for Jan 30th. I have to wait until Phase 1c, or when I become old enough for 1b.

I'm trying to book an appt for my mother in NYC and there seems to be no availability at all.

I'm curious about how the appointment for the second dose was made for you. Do they book it for you when you receive the first, or did you book it in advance. Seems like the second dose appointment should be dependent on which vaccine you got to be sure they will have it and you might not know that until getting the first dose.

Awesome, you and your spouse are now two colored dots on the Bill Gates interactive map towards his plans for global dominion! Your font size increases with the second shot...

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

Yay!
Mrs Pupp had her second Pfizer shot on Tues. She had to take Wed off work due to fever/muscle aches, but is back to 100% today. “Totally worth it,” she says.

They gave us a card with the date we should return for the second dose. Ours was 28 days, because ours was Moderna.
I have a friend who got the Pfizer. They called to schedule her second dose at 21 days from the first.

Yep. Husband is over 65 and I qualify as his caregiver. I am 64, so not much of a difference.
On the way home, we had to stop and get his pre-op Covid test for his knee surgery Tuesday. This has been a Covid centric day for us.

Congrats! Very good news.

My experience in South Carolona didn't go as well. I was turned away from my CDC confirmed appointment at St. Framcis hospital in Greenville today. Under their sign up form, I had qualified as my Mom's caregiver. Today they said "that's a CDC thing, we make our own rules."

Said they were only giving shots to their own staff and people over 70. My 20 year old niece, who doesn't work there, got her shot at that facility on Tuesday, no questions asked.

My 78 yo Mom did get a shot, also on Tuesday.
So there's that.

I'm happy to wait my turn, didn't need the wasted morning at the clinic tho, and false hope.

This thing is @#$%& but we already knew that.

I got my 1st Moderna shot today, also. Local Kroger Supermarket. Had to wait almost 30 minutes past my appointment time even though no one else was there getting any kind of vaccination. Took less than 3 minutes once they called me. Didn't even tell me to wait 15 minutes before leaving in case of an adverse reaction. Maybe the pharmacist felt I'd waited long enough beforehand.

2nd shot in 4 weeks. I can take it anywhere I can find an appointment as long as it's Moderna.

For Greenville, I recommend Prisma Health. That’s where my wife got her shot. In my experience, St Francis is @#$%& City.

My daughter got her first dose of the Pfizer yesterday. She asked if her fiancé could take a photo. The nurse giving the injection asked if she would like to live stream it on Facebook! My daughter wasn’t prepared to do that. The facility wants people to do this sort of publicity in order to promote uptake of the vaccine.

My daughter is 30 but got the vaccine because she has a group home supervisor overseeing her and her fiancé as well as the couple living in the other part of their duplex. They technically do not live in a group home and were going to be denied but the nurse who gave her the injection waved off the denial by the intake person because she knows my daughter’s provider. My daughter has kidney failure (a transplant) so is in the high risk category.

I am so sorry to hear that. Everyone making up their own rules is part of the problem. I fully believe in caregiver's getting the shots. It just doesn't make sense if you have someone who depends on you and then you get sick, what are they going to do?
While my husband is by no means an invalid, this last year has been really rough and I do not know what he would have done if I wasn't here to help him. I know it is the same with your mom.
I hope you can get the shot somewhere else.

I was wondering how Kroger was handling second shots. I was hoping they would book the second when you got the first, guess not.

Yep, we both have sore arms, but nothing terrible.
I have heard that the side effects, muscle pain/maybe fever, can be worse after the second dose. Usually not horrible and lasts like a day.
My 89 year old mom had her first shot on Tuesday. She also just had a sore arm for a couple of days, but nothing else.

Was just notified of my booking for Moderna at one of the mega-centers in Essex County NJ. February 1 for first dose and March 1 for the second.

Across the river in NYC, they are cancelling already-made appointments for lack of expected supply.
