Steve Schmidt just quit and he was probably their biggest player.

They did lots of good stuff, but their motivations have always worried me. I always worried about a pivot at some point, but it looks like they are just about done now.

But what made Conway’s accusations so stinging is that he is one of the co-founders of the Lincoln Project, one of the most prominent representatives of the group since its inception.

Yep. Money was better spent on grassroot organizations.

In WW2 the Americans and the Soviets worked together towards a common end. When that was accomplished, those two allies became enemies who now had different views going forward. Views that were incompatible with the other.

Don't think that the same relationship does not exist between the Democrats and the Lincoln Project. The demise of the Lincoln Project now will save many headaches in the future.

It doesn't matter so much as they broke ranks and made a great effort. They get a gold start for that.

Carville is valuable and still influential voice. He was able to articulate a proper level of rage this election season and was widely received. In a democracy, the majority rules. He's entitled to bemoan his concerns, but he always accepts the decisions.

The Lincoln Project was probably primarily preaching to the choir, but they had their place. However, their objectives are still conservative objectives, the Trump thing was a slight detour.

One of their stated objectives was to get into Trump's head with intent to effect his decisions - thus the targeted ad buys on FOX DC. We'll never know for sure but given Trump;s penchant of flying by the seat of his pants decision making it's likely that particular approach bore some fruit.

Some of the paths that campaign took were downright strange like the Parscale misadventure.

Overall I think Ombligo's analogy apt - they were never going to have an affinity for anything but the furthest right of the Democratic Party (Steve Schmidt recently registered as a Dem) and would only make it more difficult for the Party to get behind any sort of progressive agenda.

All-in-all I'm glad they came over even if they grifted while doing so. Now they can maybe drift back to the remaining old wing of the GOP - policy wise they don't have anything to offer Dems.

If the Project manages to launch a new Republican Party, they can still do damage. But realistically, they are a one trick pony.

I love Carville simply because he called the election results early and quite optimistically.
