no. They could have hanged Mike Pence and Nancy Pelosi and those 43 traitors would not have changed their vote.

Hard to say for sure but I think it would have.

I think it would be different. There'd be no hypotheticals, it would flat out be a murder case, and I am certain that a lot of folks -- private citizens as well as politicians -- who were pretzling themselves trying to excuse Trump and thus themselves would suddenly have found it more comfortable to throw Trump under the bus.

I have heard some speculation that if a politician had been killed 45 would have used that as an excuse to declare martial law. don't know where that would have gone.

Martial law does not stop January 20th from coming. New President comes in, calls off martial law. Arrests Old President for trespassing and probably lots more.

Definitely. Our culture reacts very differently to the death of known names versus unknown citizens. Most of the mealy mouthed equivocations and rationalizations would not longer be tenable. Someone on the top branches of the tree would have taken the fall; Giuliani, some media figure like Tucker Carlson, possibly Trump himself.

Non-famous legislators would have ramped up emotions greatly, well known names would have dominated the news cycle on their own. Famous names like Pelosi, Romney or AOC would have taken over the news cycle.

The murder of a sitting Vice President at the hands of an invading mob — behind the words of the sitting President himself — would have garnered round the clock coverage.

And of course the handling of the attack itself would have changed radically with each step up the ladder. The chance of a bloodbath would gone through the roof.

And gauging by their reaction to things as they in fact happened, my guess would be Trump’s base would have become even more radicalized.

Yes it would have been different.

But those lives don't matter more than that of Officer Brian Sicknick who was murdered by that mob. I hope those responsible are found and brought to justice.

You would have heard more angst but not necessarily more opinions changed. Too many have shown a distaste for the truth, for truth to matter. We need to stop wondering where the line is drawn for Republicans, because it’s always further out of reach than anyone wants it to be.

By not holding Trump accountable they’ve signaled the risk of death for themselves is OK. Consider what that means for the rest of us.

If Democrats were killed, there would have been nationwide conservative applause, and Trump would have been acquitted.

If Republicans were killed, BLM and Antifa would be blamed for directly or indirectly riling up the fascists, there would have been nationwide conservative outrage, and Trump would have been acquitted.

The tRump operatives would have immediately zeroed in only on the single individual who committed the killing, and create a false narrative that that individual, and ONLY that individual, was guilty; end of story.

Yes, but it's still good that more people weren't killed.

There seemed to be considerable talk among the attackers that Pence was to be hanged; a much less individual violence. Mobs hang.

Imagine an image like this in every media nook and cranny.

No.
