Rush Limbaugh dies from lung cancer

RIP. I’ll miss tuning in at noon for his monologue.

Keep your politics on the other side, though I doubt the usual crowd has that much self-control.

Yet, one should be able to do so, if they aren't simultaneously contributing political editorial.

I think what The Moderator has made clear is there is someone always looking to tank a post to the Other Side for personal reasons.

When a post takes a turn, it's banished when Anthony pushes, and The Moderator is forced to act.

Like Soylent Green, the problem is people!

Same here. He got rich promoting hate and bigotry, when he didn’t have to. He knew better, but greed got to the better of him.

If Limbaugh had stuck to politics, then you would not see the vitriol spouted at him today. But he didn't, he instead mercilessly launched personal attacks on individuals and groups of people he didn't like.

How can you expect people to show him the respect that he never showed to other people?

Two kinds of people who all eventually die: the kind who leave the world a better place and those who don't. Pretty certain most can agree on which kind of person ol' Rush was.

Why in the world would anyone bother to celebrate the lives of those who didn't bother make the world a better place but instead spent their lives spreading hate and discontent?

Although in this particular case, Limbaugh's death will possibly make things here on earth somewhat better…if only because no one will be poisoned by his rhetoric any longer.

This is far from true. ANY post about ANYbody who can be related in ANY way to politics gets thrown over here. That's NOT our idea. It means, for example, that you can't post that the White House now has a shelter dog living there. Or that GW Bush is now a painter. Or share funny (and SO not political) Bernie's Mittens memes. And, again, that is NOT our idea.
It is the people on the Tips and Deals side who FREAK OUT if anyone posts anything that involves anyone or anything that is even vaguely connected to politics. And obviously, Rush was ALL about politics so there's no way in hell a thread about him should stay over there. since nobody else gets a pass.

And btw, Rush is the one who said Robin Williams killed himself in despair over "political leftist" guilt. And played "I'll Never Love That Way Again" while he talked about people dying from AIDS. And said Michael J. Fox was faking his Parkinson symptoms. So I imagine that Rush is looking up at us all and saying, yeah, that's cool, talk @#$%& about sick and dead people, after all, I always did it.

He started bad mouthing the global warming group back in the early 1990s. He was a college dropout who didn't understand anything about climate science, but built the anti-global warming movement into a part of "conservatism." I neither mourn him nor celebrate his death, and point out that he had retired from radio a while back, if I understand correctly.

He never retired. His last show was earlier this month.

Rush normalized for conservatives lying, conspiracy theories, racism and other forms of bigotry. We just had the Rush presidency, I dont think we would have had Trump without Rush.

He made us dumber and meaner than we ever needed to be, as a nation. That's his legacy.

He was still doing his show up until recently, not sure when his last broadcast was. So he had not "retired", at most he just was on less during the past year as his condition got worse.

I'll bet you really miss this segment!

One of the ways he made the world a worse place to live was a regular segment on his radio show called the “AIDS Update” where he would celebrate the AIDS-related deaths of gay and bi men.
