So my issue is that tech companies are being singled out. Why? Big Pharma, Big telecommunications companies and their monopolies (Comcast, Charter, etc.), the food industry, are being ignored. If you are going to look at one industry's domination and business practices, then look at all of the monopolistic, or oligarchic businesses.

Why is it OK to split up Apple, or Google, but not have, for example, Comcast divest itself of content creation (NBC, etc.) or Sony stick with electronics and not be involved in other areas, or Disney buying up movies studios, broadcast networks, theme parks, cruise ships and so on?

Tech companies begat social media and social media (Twitter/Farcebook etc) are seen as direct threats (and/or boon) by an entrenched political class. Other monopolies are not perceived that way, thus the focus on tech.
