I'm guessing that she saw the amount of money and decided to see if she could get a piece of it with a quick legal filing. I didn't read the text of the lawsuit, but I wonder what the grounds are, and whether the law here in California allows the defendant to file a counterclaim for malicious prosecution or the equivalent. Some lawyer gets to bill a couple thousand for writing a motion to dismiss.
